Fantastic cottage in a brilliant location. Fairly close to the M1 so easily accessible from both the north and south. We stayed for Christmas week so decided not to sample the local pubs/places to eat but after a walk through Melbourne you would have lots of options. Only a mile walk up to the town using footpaths so again, accessible. The cRead moreottage was very comfortable for four adults and the downstairs bedroom was perfect for those not wanting to do stairs. The additional lounge upstairs was cosy and a perfect setting to open all our Christmas gifts. Jayne left us baked goodies, fresh milk and a bottle of fizz - thank you, it was a lovely treat. We have already recommended the cottage to friends and we talked about returning in the warmer months to take advantage of local walks. Hide

The cottage was spotless, and was everything we could want. Lovely walks from cottage, beautiful scenery and with local amenities. Highly recommend.

Melbourne is a pretty village and was quite central for our National Trust days out. There are some wonderful NT houses to visit. There are some lovely walks to do and great eating places in and close to Melbourne. Would highly recommend The New Stables and Derbyshire as a holiday destination.

The cottage is beautifully appointed and the welcome pack was lovely. Unfortunately we were only there for a few minutes before we realised that we had somehow managed to book a dog free cottage. After speaking to the owners both face to face, and then via Original Cottages, they required us to remove our dog
