Property code: OC-T29787

Set within the Herefordshire countryside on the Welsh Border, this historic tower was constructed back in 1820 as a folly in the grounds of a now demolished country house. It has recently been lovingly converted into a luxurious retreat for couples and families, where you can relax, unwind and enjoy this truly unique experience. Situated just 1 mile from the bustling market town of Hay-on-Wye, famous for the annual book festival, you can lose yourself in one of the many bookstores or enjoy a morning coffee whilst watching the world go by. A weekly farmers market offers fresh local produce and crafts, The Globe hosts a variety of live music, comedians, and plays, with a cinema offering an eclectic choice of movies. The town sits on the banks of the river Wye and a local beach, The Warren, is great for a wild swim or canoe hire. For walkers, you can enjoy walks from the tower along with Black Mountains for spectacular views.

Surrounded by golden fields of corn and Herefordshire cattle, you will enjoy the drive across the country estate to the tower, whilst its architectural splendour dominates the landscape. With four floors there is plenty to explore, the ground floor offers a small lobby with space for coats and muddy boots, and a shower room. From here you can start to climb the winding solid oak staircase to the first floor, an open plan space with cleverly constructed bunk beds that fold away. From here you can climb to the second floor where you will find a cosy king-size bedroom with built in bed. The third floor is home to a well-equipped kitchen with table and chairs for dining, with a final climb to the lounge. Here you can sink into the generously sized sofa and enjoy the astounding 360 degree views from the gothic windows or cosy up in front of the Smart TV. A final paddle staircase offers access to the ‘battlements’, an open terrace with parapet to keep you sheltered, perfect for sun sets, with a selection of flags and flagpole. From here the views are truly stunning in all directions, taking in the summit of Pen Y Fan over the rooftops of Hay, the Black Mountains and the rolling Herefordshire countryside.

Outside the tower opens onto the countryside, there is a wildflower meadow with table and chairs for summer dining, a fire bowl that can also be used as a BBQ (a starter pack of logs included), along with acres of estate land to explore.
