Escape to this beautiful holiday home set in one of North Yorkshire’s prettiest towns, Helmsley, in the North York Moors National Park. Voted one of the best places to live in the UK in a Sunday Times survey, picture-postcard Helmsley offers a real escape from the stresses and strains of modern life. Helmsley is tiny yet packed with things to do. In addition to the exquisite tearooms, cafes and delis in town, you’ll also find some of the best restaurants and gastropubs in the UK, and lots of independent shops, upmarket stores, galleries and antique dealers. The Duncombe Park Estate is set on the edge of town and its parkland and gardens are open to visitors for much of the year. It’s a lovely spot for walking, particularly along the river towards Rievaulx Abbey (3 miles). Helmsley is also close to York, Castle Howard and the Yorkshire coast, so lots of choices for day trips, all within a 30-mile drive.

Nestled in the picturesque heart of Helmsley, this luxury stone cottage, completely renovated for 2024, offers a unique and unforgettable experience for families and friends. Step inside and be greeted by a stunning interior that boasts high-end decor and impressive design. The sleek kitchen, featuring a large central island with quartz worktops and a stunning orangery roof, is bathed in natural light. This space is perfect for creating family feasts, equipped with top-of-the-range appliances that make cooking a joy. Enjoy your culinary creations at the breakfast bar with a glass of fizz in hand. The dining area seamlessly connects, offering a large table that comfortably accommodates everyone and includes a bar. Descend a couple of steps into the sumptuous lounge area, where deep, comfy sofas invite you to unwind. The media wall, complete with a Smart TV, lets you pick a film or stream your favourite music. Full-width bi-fold doors open to the garden patio, creating a harmonious indoor/outdoor flow. A handy utility room with laundry facilities and a WC adds to the cottage’s practicality. Come nightfall, retreat to one of the four tastefully styled bedrooms. The ground floor hosts a spacious super-king-size room. Upstairs, discover two additional super-king-size rooms – one with an en-suite shower room – and a funky bunk bedroom adorned with quality fabrics. A family bathroom with a walk-in shower and bath serves the upper floor.

Outside, the generously sized patio with a pergola provides a lovely spot for warm summer nights. Relax around the fire pit under a starry sky. There is private parking for two cars at the rear of the property.

Excellent location , well equipped but some thought needed to staircase as no handrail and information about domestic matters/appliance manuals would have been helpful

Lovely cottage. Beds v comfortable and finished to high standard. Easy walk to centre of Helmsley. Main downside is the road noise and also access to property is very tight via alley between church and house if you have wide vehicle.
