Once part of Scalegill Mill, a historic cotton mill dating back to 1792, this stunning cottage provides the perfect base for couples or small families to explore the Yorkshire Dales. The property benefits from a peaceful location, set back from the road but benefitting from a footpath in the garden that takes you straight to the village of Malham. Enjoy some of the prettiest walks in all of Yorkshire from the dramatic limestone cliffs of Malham Cove (3 miles), the tranquil waterfall of Janet's Foss (2.5 miles), and the scenic Gordale Scar (3 miles). The Pennine Way, one of the UK's most famous long-distance walking routes, also passes through the village. Other popular places to visit nearby include the market town of Skipton with its impressive medieval castle (10 miles), the charming town of Grassington (11 miles), and the prehistoric formations of Ingleborough Cave (14 miles).

Step into this beautiful Malhamdale cottage, a holiday retreat bursting with character and homely touches throughout. As you enter, you'll find yourself in the charming, farmhouse-style kitchen/diner, adorned with cream walls, contrasting granite worktops, a Belfast sink, and a traditional AGA oven. The kitchen's multi-coloured slate flooring adds to its rustic charm, while a well-equipped layout ensures all your culinary needs are met. The farmhouse table is perfect for lazy brunches or intimate evening meals. Next, move through to the inviting lounge, where a roaring open fire sets a cosy atmosphere for evenings in front of the Smart TV. Upstairs, you'll discover two delightful double bedrooms, each featuring soft linens and beautiful views over the Dales, ensuring a restful night's sleep. A stylish family shower room completes the interior.

Outside, there is a private front patio area furnished with a table and chairs, perfect for al fresco dining or enjoying a morning coffee. Across the courtyard, you'll find a shared garden with a stone-flagged patio set above the river and waterfall, creating a serene spot to unwind. Just a couple of hundred yards away, on the other side of the mill, a shared woodland walk leads to a large, private pond which provides the ideal picnic spot. Private, off-road parking for two cars is also available.

The cottage is located in a central location of many walks and things to see. Did not need the car to go out. Location is in a beautiful surrounding. The cottage itselve was perfect, but in our opinion we think that the Aga stove is too much for a small house and a practical stove would be much practical to use.

Fabulous location. Easy walking distance to some of the most amazing walks or a short drive to beautiful towns and villages. The aga was a godsend. The cottage is very comfortable and roomy. Well kitted out. Parking right outside too.

Fountains Cottage sits down a dead end single track lane in a narrow valley next to a stream. It's part of a former mill so the building is old. But boy is it quiet, peaceful and serene. The location is great as you can walk into the village of Kirkby Malham, walk to the "larger" Malham or pop in the car and visit other spots in the Dales such as GRead morerassington. The cottage itself has a well stocked kitchen...although I didn't attempt to use the AGA. The sitting area is comfy with a couple of throw blankets to snuggle under. Bedrooms are good sized with comfy beds and bedding. The shower was one of my favorite features. I'm a fan of large shower only showers. I do think the cottage could use a little sprucing up (fresh paint maybe some new carpet) but all in all, it was a great stay. Hide
