Situated in an idyllic location in picturesque Maidencombe, between Teignmouth and the English Riviera, this welcoming cottage with ocean views is perfect for couples and small families with the dogs in tow. Walkers are spoiled with countryside trails all around, but the headliner is no doubt the famous South West Coast Path that guests can join from the garden and walk towards Teignmouth and Shaldon in one direction, or Torquay and Paignton in the other. Maidencombe Beach (1 mile) is your closest stretch of sand and welcomes dogs too, other nearby beaches include Ness Cove Beach and Shaldon beach (both within 2.5 miles). The village of Shaldon is worth a visit too, where you can amble through narrow streets, stopping in pubs and cafes along the way.

Why not attend one of the many events in the area like the Shaldon Regatta, English Riviera Air Show, Devon County Show and there are many various local food and music festivals to enjoy too.

Access the property via a pathway of 50 steps winding down through the garden to the front door and enjoy the stunning, uninterrupted views of the surrounding hills and ocean from the lounge. The lounge boasts patio doors to the rear and armchairs perfectly placed to enjoy the ever-changing view. Adjacent is a second seating area with a comfy sofa, a Smart TV, and a dining area with seating for all guests next to a large window. The kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you’ll need to whip up feasts using the local ingredients you sourced earlier in the day. Completing the downstairs is a useful cloakroom with a WC. Moving upstairs you’ll find the master bedroom to your left with a super-king-size bed and beautiful countryside and coastal views. In here you’ll also find an archway that leads to a large dressing room with a bureau for those looking for workspace, a large wardrobe area, and a well-appointed en-suite bathroom. Down the hall is the family shower room with a walk-in shower and a WC. The second bedroom offers a spacious twin room boasting more stunning views from the window.

There is an additional downstairs bedroom with a king size bed, bathroom with shower and WC, sliding doors opening up to the decking with table, chairs and sea views. Available for guests with extended family or friends, for an additional £300, (please contact us for more details)

Outside there is a decked balcony area accessed via the patio doors and steps to a further large decking area at the end of the garden, furnished for al fresco meals. Guests will also find a small summer house with additional seating for some shade, as well as BBQ facilities and a lawn area. Unwind out here at the start and end of each day, all the while taking in the breathtaking views.

Please note: There are ponds located in the garden, therefore unfortunately children under 7 years-old will not be accepted including babies/infants– please keep older children and dogs under supervision. The garden is not fully enclosed.

Our stay last week was truly fabulous. The house is really beautiful, and the view is something to never forget. My sister, Dachsie Jip and I have walked several times from the garden down to the Salt path and then continued walking to Maidencombe beach. The location is a good base for a variety of excursions. Both inland (Dartmoor) and at the coasRead moret. Follow the tips provided in the folder. Also regarding the selection of restaurants. It is definitely worth it. And absolutely don't worry about the stairs to the house. Even for unathletic people, they are just a light workout. After our stay at Sea Maiden, we departed reborn back to our flat Netherlands. Rosie and Keith, thank you very much for our wonderful stay in your magnificent house. Jacqueline, Carmen & Jip Hide

If you require somewhere to absolutely chill out for a week, which we did, this is for you. The location, overlooking an ancient Devonian small field and hedgerow landscape with accompanying wildlife, and views of the sea a couple of fields away, was wonderful. We were fortunate to hit a spell of lovely late April weather, and the garden was gorgeoRead moreus. We spent our time relaxing, reading and watching the world not go by from the balcony. We generally eat out most days on holiday to avoid food preparation in a kitchen which doesn't always offer convenient equipment, but this one did and we felt too lazy to go out. We instead ate simple meals using local produce. Do leave the blinds far enough up to allow the sun to waken you as it rises from the East. This will be about 0530, but you can go back to sleep for a few more hours afterwards. The rosy fingered dawn would be the most apt description. Blissful. Alternatively, you are near some lovely countryside for getting out and about. The website description of the local area covers all aspects and we can wholeheartedly recommend a break at Sea Maiden.
