  • Perfectly located for exploring Swanage’s attractions, beaches, and the famous Jurassic Coast
Property code: OC-A29454

Set in the conservation area of Swanage’s old town on Dorset’s Isle of Purbeck, this delightful Edwardian home invites families and friends for a memorable getaway beside the sea. Around 400 metres from Swanage’s centre, the property is perfectly located for discovering all the sandy stretches and amusements that you’d expect from a seaside resort. Swanage Beach is just over 300 metres away, while the clifftop grasslands of The Downs are under half a mile away, offering splendid views down to Swanage. The popular Swanage Railway (0.5 miles) offers a scenic journey to Corfe Castle, while just 1.5 miles away awaits Durlston Country Park. No trip to Dorset is complete without seeing the Jurassic Coast, and a half-mile walk leads to the South West Coast Path and the chalky summits of these famous cliffs. Other attractions include Studland Bay, Wareham, The Tank Museum, and Monkey World (all within 16 miles).

Sleeping up to seven guests, this end-terrace property charms on arrival with its sun-soaked bay windows and traditional red brick finish. Step inside and kick off sandy shoes in the welcoming hallway where original floor tiles add character to the space. Step inside and relax in the open-plan lounge/diner, the social heart of the home. Soaked in natural light pouring through the large windows, this space appeals with its rustic décor, ocean-inspired artwork, sparkling chandelier, and busy bookshelf. Unwind in the lounge, kicking back on the soft seating in front of the Smart TV or playing your favourite tunes on the Bluetooth home speaker, and when stomachs start to rumble, lay up the long, wooden dining table and walk through to the well-appointed kitchen. Find all you need in this airy space to whip up celebratory holiday feasts for the rest of the group, who can gather at the dining table indoors or out in the courtyard garden, planning the next adventure over food. When day turns to night, guests have four sumptuous bedrooms to choose from upstairs – two on the first floor and two on the second floor. The first floor boasts a spacious king-size bedroom with distant sea views through the bay window, as well as a cosy single bedroom. Completing the first floor is a well-equipped family bathroom and a separate shower room. Up on the second floor await a double bedroom and a welcoming twin room, both set under sloping eaves and offering glimpses of the ocean and the Purbeck Hills.

Outside, to the rear of the property, awaits an enclosed courtyard garden – a beautiful, peaceful spot in which to unwind, especially lovely while the sun sets thanks to its west-facing position. Enjoy al fresco food and drinks on the furnished decking space, or retreat to the covered patio with your holiday read. On-street parking is subject to availability.

We loves our stay at cosy Anchor Cottage, parking was not a problem (always space on road or road above even in busy half term). The location for the beach and town was amazing and we hope to be back

Lovely house, really cosy and clean when we arrived. Bathrooms and kitchen high quality. Parking a little tricky but so close to the high street so worth it.

Lovely, comfortable clean house. Really comfortable beds, good quality pillows a duvet and bedding. Lovely seaviews. Very close to all the amenities. Parking a little iffy,on a very steep hill, but we managed to park right outside the house and never moved it all week. Plenty of public transport on doorstep and not expensive. Plus there is a lot ofRead more lovely walks. Very warm and homely. Would definitely stay again. Hide

Lovely house, nicely furnished and very spacious (apart from the small kitchen). Two nice bathrooms. House very clean and beds very comfortable with good quality bedding (although no mattress protectors). Sadly there was no cutlery in the kitchen. We telephoned Holiday Cottages but the lines were busy so we left a message. Nobody rang us back Read moreso we had to go out and buy cutlery. Parking outside the house very difficult so makes unloading and loading car a nightmare. House on a VERY steep hill so a real problem for my 83 year old mum. So disappointed with outside area, the description of which had been the deciding factor in booking this property. The back is NOT secure. There is a communal path running through the garden with gates at either end, which were left open on occasion so definitely not suitable for young children or dogs. Didnt feel safe as witnessed a couple of undesirable looking characters cutting through the garden. Generally scruffy and not a nice place to sit. Didnt use the garden at all. Very central, only a couple of minutes walk from the centre but still very quiet. Hide

Outstanding house located perfectly for the beach, shops, restaurants and all the other fabulous attractions of Swanage. Parking was easy even on high season. Amazing sea views from many of the rooms, really tastefully decorated, clean and well equipped.

The house was absolutely wonderful. Beautifully designed, spacious and comfortable, on one of the prettiest streets in Swanage. Great location close to town. Excellent kitchen, and the bedrooms were so comfortable for our family of four. Highly recommend!

We had a very nice stay for six adults and two children. The location couldnt have been better with just a couple of minutes walk to the town and the beach. The rooms were very comfortable with lovely views from all of them. Finding a parking space near to the house was a bit of a challenge on some days but there were always spaces in the evening aRead morend you can stop in the street to unload. Beware that the road is very steep[ so this may present problems if you have walking difficulties. All in alll we had a great holiday here. Hide
