Located in the heart of Exmoor National Park, this delightful riverside cottage is the perfect escape for nature lovers, walkers and cyclists. Enjoy superb walks on the Brendon Hills and the Coleridge Way which stretches between the Quantock Hills National Landscape and Exmoor. This footpath is littered with spectacular scenery all around; Dunkery Beacon (8.5 miles) is Exmoor’s highest point at 519 metres. Historians and families will enjoy a day trip to the quintessential medieval village of Dunster (6 miles) where you can enjoy a plethora of historic attractions such as the Lovers Bridge, Pottery Kiln, the Working Water Mill, and the iconic Dunster Castle where you can admire the dramatic vistas and subtropical gardens. The inviting harbour towns of Watchet (8 miles) and Porlock (13 miles) offer a good selection of shops and eateries to peruse before heading to the esplanade and marina to watch all the boating and fishing activities.

Step through the front door and feel right at home in this sympathetically restored cottage which tastefully shows off some of its character features such as exposed beams, stone walls, and an inglenook fireplace. Sit back and cosy up in front of the wood burner after a full day of explorations with your favourite film or TV programme in the stylish living room. Calm days can be enjoyed reading your favourite book and sitting in the window seat gazing out onto the garden. Mealtimes will feel wholesome and memorable at the farmhouse dining table in this wonderfully bright and airy dining room, with large bay windows inviting the outside in. A convenient boot room and WC are located on the ground floor accessed by a stable door, ideal for hanging up coats and drying off wet paws. A spacious pantry leads through to an elegant well-equipped kitchen where even the most novice of chefs will delight in cooking up some tasty treats. When it’s time to retire for the evening, head upstairs where you will find a sumptuous, master bedroom with a king-size bed, dresser, a built-in wardrobe, and a delightful dual-aspect twin bedroom overlooking the river. The soothing decor of these bedrooms with shutter blinds almost guarantees a good night’s sleep. Last but by no means least is the exquisite bathroom complete with shower and free-standing claw-foot bath which is conveniently situated beneath the large window.

Outside, the cottage is surrounded by a country garden which offers an array of colours, textures and scents throughout the year. Sounds of the tinkling river can be enjoyed while you eat alfresco in the rear garden or cool yourself down on a hot summer’s day by dipping your toes in.

Lovely setting and overall a cosy and comfortable cottage. Lots of lovely walks from the door and a good pub within a short walk. Both dog friendly. We had lovely weather which made it a lovely week. Minor irritations with kitchen equipment, but didn't spoil our break.
