The village of Treknow, just above Trebarwith Strand Beach encapsulates Cornwall's rugged beauty and rich history, making it a quintessential holiday destination. Nestled on the north coast, Trebarwith boasts stunning cliffs, golden sands, a fabulous pub in a cliff-top setting and excellent surfing spots. The beach is dog friendly all year round and within easy reach via a 0.5-mile walk through fields opposite the cottage where it is also possible to join the South West Coast path. Just a mile away lies Tintagel, famed for its legendary connections to King Arthur and its dramatic castle ruins perched on the cliffs. Visit Port Isaac (7 miles) to see where the famous Doc Martin show was filmed, or the historic Boscastle Harbour and St Nectans Glen and Waterfall, less than 5 miles away. For those seeking adventure further afield, Rock (13.5 miles) and Polzeath (11.5 miles) are well worth a visit, and the fabulous foodie capital of Padstow is only 20 miles away (or less if you catch the ferry from Rock). Whether you're drawn to the history of the area, the natural beauty, or outdoor activities, Trebarwith Strand and Tintagel provide an enchanting holiday experience, offering a perfect blend of relaxation and exploration amidst Cornwall's captivating landscapes.

This wonderful character cottage invites you in with a warm and welcoming open-plan living space with a light dining area offering views across the valley. This leads to a comfortable seating area to gather and unwind in. There is an additional separate living/TV room to the left to relax in and watch a family film together. You will also find a handy shower room with WC on this level. The kitchen is further on and is practical and well equipped for a meal to be whipped up with ease. Head upstairs to find the bright and coastal-themed bedrooms: one king-size, one double room with an en-suite shower and WC, and one twin room with two single beds and another en-suite shower room to keep everyone happy after a day out exploring the coast.

French doors open onto the garden with steps leading to various pretty nooks on the different tiers. The attractive raised decking and patio has a corner sofa and sun loungers to sprawl out on and relax. Marvel at the distant sea views and stunning sunsets as you plan your next day's adventure and enjoy a family BBQ.

The cottage is wonderful, light, airy, spacious, clean, comfortable and well stocked with everything you might need. The garden is delightful, on several interesting levels and is fenced all round to stop small dogs escaping. The 10 minute walk down to the beach takes you through a field and wooded area, all off-road, or there is an alternative 25 Read moreminute walk up and along to the coast path before descending.. Either way does of course involve walking back up and the beach (Trebarwith Strand) is only accessible at low tide. Hide

Excellent cottage in a quiet lovely area within walking distance through fields to a beautiful beach with a pub overlooking the sea. Cottage had everything we needed inside and the garden was a sun trap on the decking which we amazingly that we also got to enjoy amazingly in March. The little touches were fab too like even a dirty washing basket,cRead moreloth etc, cottage had everything we needed. The only downside of the cottage is there is no grass in the garden which wasnt a problem for our little dog as we used the verge opposite the cottage luckily the grass had been cut but Im not sure many dogs would use this. Our dog wouldnt go on the gravel in the cottage garden as only paths with concrete. there is also a field with sheep in 2 mins down the lane which our dog also used but you would feel bad going there too early as you have to walk down a gravel drive which would wake the people in 3/4 cottages. Wasnt a problem for us but could be with kids and a dog. Also the cottage is on a road which can get very busy probably in summer so you would need to be extra careful opening the front door with kids and dogs as it could be a hazard. Wasnt a problem for us as our dog has mobility issues and is very calm and waits etc but if you had a more lively dog or young kids it could be an issue when you go out to the car etc. like I say not a problem for us but potentially could be an issue. Highly recommend this cottage we found it very relaxing and would definitely book again we loved the area, lovely quiet and relaxing garden and home. Thank you! Cant wait to return soon! Hide

We had a lovely stay at the cottage. It's in a great location as a home base for exploring north Cornwall and had everything we needed. An excellently equipped kitchen made preparing meals there very comfortable. A good spot if you're looking for dog friendly accommodation as there is also a lovely yard to sit out in if the weather is nice. Would aRead morebsolutely stay there again. Hide

Hillscroft was absolutely perfect for our half term holday break. Ideal for blustery walks along the coast path and visits to towns along the North Coast. As the evenings drew in the spacious cottage provided us with space to relax and read, whilst our son composed guitar music in the sitting room. It was just the break we needed. Thank you!

Fabulous house, well equipped, stunning views, all very comfy. Loved our stay. A little out the way , shame not a local shop or fish & chip's in treknow. Loved tintagel but to far to walk. We walked across the fields to the beach but very steep. Couldn't manage the walk back up so we walked the road way on way back. A killer so only did it once.
