This property enjoys an enviable position in the popular, unspoilt fishing village of Craster just a few meters from the harbour and small beach, and a little further to the village shop and award-winning local seafood restaurant. Walk the coastal path to Dunstanburgh Castle from the doorstep, for spectacular views and local wildlife. Finish the walk with a drink in the pub which offers both great views and a tasty menu, or try freshly cooked food from the quirky cafe located in the main car park. Embleton village (3 miles) has pubs, restaurants and a general store. Play golf and walk to the sandy beach and onto Low-Newton with its beachside pub. Visit Howick Hall Gardens for its tearoom (3 miles), Beadnell Bay for its golden sand (9 miles) and magnificent Bamburgh Castle for epic adventures (13 miles).

Set over three floors, with wonderful views, this delightful semi-detached property was a former fisherman’s cottage built from local whinstone around 1906. One step leads to the garden path and front door. Come into the hallway, where you can store your outdoor boots and coats. There is a bookcase with a range of books to dip into during your stay. Head into the spacious, bright lounge with a large, picture window offering a lovely view towards the harbour. There is comfortable seating for everyone to relax on in front of the cosy, open fire and you can enjoy a movie night in front of the Smart TV. The kitchen/diner is just off the hallway and boasts a large dining table and seating for eight for sociable mealtimes together. The kitchen has a traditional stone-flagged floor and is fully equipped with everything you will need during your stay including a useful walk-in larder-style cupboard to store your food. A cupboard reveals the washer/dryer, and there is a glazed door leading to the rear patio area. On the first floor, you will find two bedrooms: the king-size with a single sofa bed, useful for an additional child guest, and a spacious twin bedroom with views towards the harbour. The family bathroom has a shower over the bath and a WC. Take the stairs to the second floor, passing the port hole set in the wall on the way, and find two more attractive bedrooms. There is a double bedroom with amazing sea views and a built-in wardrobe, and a tranquil single bedroom with views towards the countryside and the sea. A modern shower room serves this floor with a walk-in shower and WC.

Outside to the front, there is an enclosed garden overlooking the harbour with outdoor dining furniture. To the rear, there is a patio area (not enclosed) with bench seating.

We spent a very enjoyable long weekend in The Porthole. It's a very well equipped and well positioned cottage and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay there.

We had a lovely stay at the Port Hole. Its a very welcoming and comfortable house and is well equipped. We had 6 people and a dog staying in the house and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house was lovely and clean and is in a great location.

We loved the location, despite the small garden/yard space. Comfy beds, spacious kitchen. View across harbour wonderful from front garden seating whilst having a bbq. Local pub is great - book for meals.

Lovely cottage in beautiful location. Quiet and peaceful only a few metres from the sea. Lovely walk across the field to Dunstanbrough Castle.
