It’s on the edge of the village of Oughterard, which you can walk to via a footbridge. You can also wander to Lough Carrib less than 500 metres away (the largest lake in Ireland), home to wild brown trout and ideal for fishing, kayaking, and swimming, and going on a scenic lake cruise. The pretty seaside village of Spiddle on the shores of Galway Bay (17 miles) is also worth your time.

The bungalow has been lovingly furnished to make a comfortable and relaxing base. It has a cosy lounge with comfy seating, a TV, wood burner and wooden floor. There’s an armchair next to the wood burner in the spacious kitchen/diner, which houses two dining tables, perfect for the kids and adults. The final two bedrooms are on the first floor: a double with an en-suite shower room, and a triple room, which has a double bed and a single bed, and a second shower room. Recently we had the pleasure in staying at the lovely cottage in Oughterard near Galway. We were a party of 8 ranging in age from 85 (my dad) down to 2 and a half years old. (my granddaughter) Wow, what can we say the house is spacious, clean and well equipped. There is a large main bathroom on the ground floor with a full size bath, a shoRead morewer room on the first floor, and also an ensuite shower room on the first floor (my room) All bedrooms are large and spacious with plenty of storage. There is plenty of clean bedding if required, a washing machine and outdoor drying area. The kitchen dining area is very large with a log burner (not used) plenty of crockery and cutlery, pans and utensils. Elizabeth loved the first floor play area which had plenty of toys to play with and is a lovely touch and well thought our for families to keep children entertained. There is a large secure garden with sheep in the field next to it, we had fun when they escaped but the farmer was soon there to sort them out. The local area is stunning with a short walk to a very well equipped village with pubs, restaurant's, and supermarket (Tesco) Geraldine and David who own the property are very welcoming and informative, and I must give them a heart felt thank you, when we were there our daughter-in-law had to have an emergency caesarean section at 33 weeks, We would have been lost without their help, advice and empathy. Once again THANK YOU I would highly recommend this property, and would come again. Mrs Sargeant. Hide

Creaky, noisey house. Glass in stove fell out. Badly needs updating, plumbing shocking, banging after toilet flushing, showers and sinktap. Could not use toilet/shower when anyone in bed. Needs a good professional clean, alot of dust and cobwebs. On the plus side, nice location and good garden for kids.

Location ideal, only a 5 minute walk to the village which has several pubs, restaurants, cafes, shopping including a Tesco. Owners very informative and welcoming. House had all the amenities required and would go back again. The kids loved the large garden especially the goals posts and the local sheep. Lots to do in the surrounding areas.

Oughterard Cottage was a great place to stay in Galway. It is located in a very peaceful setting a short walk to the village and within driving distance to Salthill and other places of interest within Galway. Te owners were super friendly and had great advice of things to do in the area. We particularly enjoyed the boat trip they recommended. TRead morehe kids were delighted to have wifi so they could just chill in the evenings or play football outside. We really enjoyed our first ever visit to Galway and Oughterard Cottage made our holiday very relaxed and pleasurable. Hide
