A romantic retreat where couples can spend time together or an idyllic cottage to share with friends, this delightful hideaway has a wealth of history. Originally a grain store dating back to the 1700s, it nestles on a working farm in County Mayo, 3.5 miles from Swinford. Offering split-level accommodation for four guests across two bedrooms, it is ideal for a party of adults. The cottage is 5 miles from the picturesque town of Foxford, on the River Moy, near Lough Cullin and popular for fishing. Follow a section of the 53-mile Foxford Way, which circles the town and takes in the Ox Mountains and other beautiful surroundings, or head out from the characterful conversion to explore wider western Ireland.

Let yourselves into this cosy getaway to find an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner at its heart. With a stripped wooden floor, partly sloped ceiling and exposed stone fireplace, this space still presents an abundance of character. Enjoy spending quality time here together on the soft seating, which is arranged so everyone can bask in the heat from the open fire. Prepare meals and snacks in the kitchen area for your party to enjoy together in the farmhouse-style kitchen. At the end of each day away, there are two beautifully decorated bedrooms to choose from, a double and a twin, each of which has a handbasin. There is a family shower room for guests to share.

Cook supper out on the stone BBQ on the cottage’s attractive patio. Have coffee out here on warm mornings or a glass of wine in the evening as you watch for wildlife in the trees and fields.

The Granary is a beautiful and cozy cottage. A perfect place from which to explore the surroundings and were we could relax and unwind in the evenings. The instructions for our arrival and communicating with the hosts went flawless. Tom made sure we were okay and gave great tips on places to see and do. In the cottage is a booklet with a lot of sugRead moregested daytrips. The one to Achill Island was probably out favourite. And I would recommend the loop walk around Lough Talt. It's an 8 km. long walk with a steep part at the beginning of the walk. Hide

Lovely property. Easy to find. Close to a local town. The owners brother, who lived next door, was a great help advising us where to go to suit our needs.
