Amid a patchwork of fields surrounded by dry stone walls, this pet-friendly coastal property offers a deceptively spacious and flexible base for a large family or group of friends. With fabulous Galway Bay views, it’s just a mile from Glynsk, a small village with a beautiful beach that’s popular for swimming, fishing and surfing and is also home to a number of fascinating rock formations, including a natural arch and sea stack. Situated along the Wild Atlantic Way, Glynsk hosts an annual sailing regatta in which unique Irish boats such as currachs and Galway Hookers compete. The village is also home to Glynsk House, where you can shop for Irish crafts and fashion and enjoy tasty food and drinks. On the opposite side of the bay, Roundstone (15 miles) overlooks the Atlantic at the foot of Errisbeg Mountain and has a busy harbour plus a thriving arts scene. Further on, Clifden (20 miles) is the largest town in Connemara, with a year-round calendar of festivals.
After a day of outdoor adventures, this handsome holiday retreat promises soothing views and plenty of space where a big party can unwind. Step inside and there’s a choice of two lounge areas, each with a wood burner for that traditional country cottage feel and one with fabulous bay views and doors onto the garden. The modern kitchen has all you’ll need for effortless self-catering, plus a dining suite where everyone can linger long after the dishwasher has been loaded. When it’s time to retire, there are two twin rooms and a convenient wet room on the ground floor. Upstairs, choose from two double rooms – each with an en-suite shower room – or a further twin room.
Whatever the weather, the views from the partially enclosed garden here are stunning. Overlooking the bay, it has a raised decking area and outdoor furniture so you can relax in comfort.
