Escape the humdrum of everyday life in this charming cottage on the Cork/Kerry border, 2 miles from the quaint village of Knocknagree. The property sleeps four guests across three bedrooms and welcomes a travelling pooch, making it perfect for families or groups of friends. The vibrant tourist town of Killarney (21.5 miles) boasts a fabulous array of traditional Irish pubs and eateries. The town is the starting point for the picturesque Ring of Kerry, which is a popular walking/cycling/driving route that loops around the Iveragh Peninsula. The long-distance Kerry Way also starts in the town. Killarney sits on the edge of Killarney National Park, which is home to Ireland’s tallest mountain, as well as some truly stunning lakes, forests, and waterfalls – the perfect place to fully switch off and embrace nature.

The cosy cottage is detached and is decorated in a homely style, with plenty of creature comforts, cute accessories, and soft furnishings. On the ground floor is a welcoming lounge with an array of comfortable seating set around an open fire and exposed stone wall. Relax here, after a day of adventure, reading a book or watching the TV. From here, move through to the separate kitchen/diner, where you can create tasty dishes for the group and dine together at the wooden dining table. There is also an inviting double bedroom on this floor, as well as a family bathroom and handy utility room. Upstairs, two cosy, single bedrooms await, set under the eaves.

Outside, take in the breathtaking, mountainous scenery from the large, partially enclosed garden. On a summer’s evening, gather on the patio for an al fresco meal, or sip a sundowner in this tranquil haven.

A very snug little cottage and perfectly suited to our needs. The owners were very helpful with our questions and generous with their welcoming package. The local people likewise were so friendly and made us welcome. I wouldn't hesitate to use this cottage again for a holiday. A car is essential however as the villages are
