Tucked away in the fishing village of Portnablagh on Donegal’s picturesque north-west coast, this delightful holiday home is surrounded by rugged coastline and golden beaches. It’s perfect for families or groups of friends seeking a relaxed, coastal holiday, and guests will enjoy the wealth of outdoor activities and vibrant towns nearby. Set off on foot to explore the coastal trail that passes the house, and enjoy days on the beach at the golden sands of Portnablagh Beach (500 metres), Killahoey Beach (2 miles), or Marble Hill Bay Beach (2 miles). The vibrant town of Dunfanaghy (1.5 miles) is known for its music festivals, seaside golf course, and variety of outdoors activities, including horse riding and surfing. The region is dotted with historic sites, including Doe Castle (6.5 miles), while the Glenveagh National Park (11.5 miles) offers mountains, lakes, woodland, waterfalls, and even a romantic castle.

This reverse-level property welcomes guests in the front porch, where stairs lead up to the main living areas. Nestled beneath the eaves of the house, the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner has been thoughtfully arranged to create a cosy and welcoming space that makes the most of the views. The inviting lounge features deep sofas centred around the wood burner, next to patio doors leading to a small balcony – a great spot to sip your morning cuppa. The newly-fitted kitchen has everything you need to cook feasts for the group, which can be enjoyed from the spacious dining table that sits in the natural light pouring through the windows. Head downstairs to find the three charming bedrooms, which have all recently been redecorated: two double rooms, one with an en-suite shower room, and a twin bedroom which includes a pull-out single for an extra guest. Completing the ground floor is a convenient and well-appointed family bathroom.

In addition to the living space’s scenic balcony, an open, lawned garden surrounds the property, and comes equipped with patio furniture and a BBQ for memorable al fresco meals.

Thank you Anne Marie and Hugh for hosting us at your lovely holiday home! We had the most wonderful week in Portnablagh. It was a great location in terms of nearby beaches and also within walking distance of all the facilities of Dunfanaghy. We highly recommend Casa in Dunfanaghy and Braai in Creeslough for food. We highly recommend Glebe Cottage.
