A superb destination for couples or small families who love walking, fishing and other outdoor activities with their dog, this single-storey, detached cottage is set within the Wicklow Mountains and has gorgeous views. In the historic town of Blessington (4.5 miles), you’ll find shops, restaurants and traditional pubs, and from here you can walk the Blessington Greenway, taking you 3.5 miles to Russborough House, one of Ireland’s most beautiful historic houses. The lakeside itself is less than a quarter of a mile from the cottage, and you’ll want to explore the impressive lakes – covering 5,000 acres of water – by foot, bike or kayak. You can reach the vibrant city of Dublin in 22 miles, while the south east coast, with its sunny beaches, is 20 miles away.

Decorated in a comfortable and contemporary style, the cottage has a compact lounge that centres around a wood burner – offering welcoming warmth after a day on the beach. The open-plan kitchen/diner has all mod cons you need to cook your favourite meals which can be enjoyed at the large dining table. On the same level you’ll find the two bedrooms – a double and a twin, as well as the family bathroom for all to stay relaxed and refreshed.

Outside, the large, lawned garden is enclosed with a post and rail fence, and you may see sheep grazing just beyond. Take a meal or a drink outside and appreciate the stunning lake and mountain views as you enjoy al fresco dining under the sun or evening stars.

John is a marvellous host doing the maximum to welcome us. His house is really nice and easy living and as the weather was a bit cold, he managed immediately so that the heating was on as much we wanted. If we can go back at John's house, we would.
