A handsome, Irish country cottage, situated in coastal County Cork, this holiday retreat is well positioned for days out to the beach and other beauty spots. Sleeping five guests, the three-bedroom abode nestles in delightful gardens on the edge of a working farm, 6 miles from Rosscarbery. It is just 7 miles from Clonakilty, with its colourful shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as its distillery and Atlantic whale and wildlife boat tours. From the cottage, strike out on coastal or country walks. Pack a picnic and venture 6.5 miles to the spectacular sandy beach at Warren Strand or 10 miles to the stretching, golden sands of Inchydoney. Red Strand Beach, also 10 miles away, is popular with surfers.

Wander inside to find accommodation that marries the traditional and rustic with the contemporary and stylish. Head into the welcoming kitchen/diner, which has an exposed brick chimney breast housing a wood burner-effect electric fire, to make a cup of tea to go with the Irish apple cake you have bought from a local bakery and to unpack any other groceries. There is ample room in here to prepare tasty meals for your party to sit down to at the table. The kitchen/diner adjoins the lounge, which has a vaulted wooden ceiling and large glass doors that can be opened during the warmer months to bring in a summer breeze. The comfortable seating in here is arranged so you can chat or watch your favourite TV programmes together. A single bedroom is also situated downstairs, while two doubles are up on the first floor. One of these has an en-suite shower room and the other an en-suite WC. There is also a family bathroom upstairs.

While away summer afternoons out in the established garden. Dine at the table out here, let the children play on the lawn and sit out under the stars over a bottle of wine on balmy evenings.

The surroundings are beautiful, yet close to town. We enjoyed our stay immensely and it felt like home right away. The owners are great, responsive to any requests and helpful and gave us lots of advice about activities and areas we might enjoy.
