The cottage is 4 miles from the market town of Tinahely, on the Derry River, full of history and offering a selection of riverside walks and access to the way-marked Wicklow Way route. Wildlife lovers can enjoy Falconry Ireland (8.5 miles), where you can learn more about the birds and watch the displays. It's an excellent location for a group. We were a group of seven, and the lodge is very well-equipped and spacious, with kitchen utensils, a kitchen table, and plenty of seating. The bedrooms aren't too small (I've definitely experienced worse in Ireland), and the three bathrooms (two with well-functioning showers) are sufficient. Communication Read morewith the owner was straightforward, very friendly, and prompt full marks for that as well. It's a great base for exploring the Wicklow Mountains, and Dublin is also easily accessible however, a car is essential for excursions from Knockananna. The local pub is a 10-minute walk away and is a clean, rural pub with a great atmosphere. I can recommend Hollow Lodge to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay, who has their own transportation, and with walking access to a pub. If you're looking for a party atmosphere like in a tourist trap, this isn't the place for you. Hide
