We had a lovely stay and can't fault the location however do feel the owner could make a few changes to bring it up a notch considering the cost to rent it. Firstly would agree with a previous owner in that from the outside the property does look a bit grubby. Its not a big issue as it has no bearing on our stay but a lick of paint to the outside wRead moreould certainly make a difference with first impressions. Inside of the house was much better aesthetically and that's ultimately what's most important for a good holiday. A few of the utensils/cutlery had dried food on still so that was a bit disappointing but we gave them a clean and carried on. A new set of pots and pans would be welcome too as the ones provided are battered and not great. Next thing...towels. We stay exclusively in UK holiday lets on holidays due to personal circumstance and I can never understand when a holiday let doesn't have proper full size 'bath sheet' towels. I'm an average size guy and had to use a couple of the smaller things that were supplied. With the shower downstairs I had to take all my clothes in with me as the towels certainly had no chance of covering my decency getting back to my room upstairs that's for sure! The towels in general weren't particularly nice quality but at least give me one that is a functional size please. Little things like that at minimal cost can make a big difference. The mattress in the main bedroom upstairs is also very basic and had us both waking up with aches until I laid down some pillows on the mattress and slept on top of those. Bit more expensive to fix that one but makes a huge difference. I think the other mattresses were all good enough as no complaints from the kids. Front gate doesn't meet up with the bolt so you can't actually make the garden fully dog-safe and need to keep an eye on them. Aside from that its a wonderful garden so wasn't too much a chore standing out there with the dog but only because the weather was kind! Final thing was the house was freezing in the mornings. Appreciate a call to the management company would probably have fixed that quickly but as we were only there 4 days decided to grin and bear it. There were electrical heaters in the property which makes me think its a known issue as otherwise why have them there. We were reluctant to leave these on overnight though for safety reasons so until we could get down in the morning and get them on it got very cold by morning. Could not find a thermostat for the life of us. Those issues aside we still had a lovely stay but we're a fairly resilient bunch. There's much to love about the house and its surroundings. Wonderful views and the beach on your doorstep. Everything in the house works as it should. Mainly just a bit of updating and TLC due as everything else is fantastic. Hide

Great location very close to beach and with good quality places to eat or get a coffee within walking distance. Need a car for shopping. Accommodation was clean and spacious for our multigenerational group.

We loved this bright and airy house with all of its space and light. Location could not be better, literally 100m to the beach. I deal location between Bridport and Abbotsbury with smaller villages nearby. The house has great sized main bedrooms and also has a second bathroom with shower on the ground floor. Modern kitchen, well equipped. GoodRead more heating so it was lovely and cosy during our stay. We'd definitely go back again. Hide

I've been meeting up annually with my friends for over 20 years in different places and this property is easily one of the best we've been to. Great location, fantastically kitted out, nice decor and extremely comfortable. Seriously considering booking again for next year rather than looking for somewhere else as normal.

Loved staying at Sunshine Cottage, the views were amazing and the interior thoughtfully decorated. The sound of the waves at night were very soothing and helped provided a great nights sleep. The garden was brilliant for the dog and the restaurant a short walk away provided lovely food. We would love to stay here again!

Some aspects of the house needs a little maintenance, ie two sealed units in the lounge had broken down, hence misty windows, and the bedroom 1 window we were unable to open.

Our hearts sank when we approached the house, it looked very run down, and really looked out of place compared with the other houses in the road.

Sunshine cottage is beautiful, the photos really do not do this place justice, the lounge area with views over looking the sea are incredible. The garden is so much bigger than it comes across. The cottage is within walking distance, both up and down the hill to some really nice places to eat. The Club House does delicious fish dishes. The beach iRead mores shingle and an incredibly popular beach if you like fishing. This was a lovely family gateway and the cottage is the perfect size for 5 adults and 2 children. We enjoyed a visit on our last morning by a friendly chicken coming into the garden. Thank you. Hide

House is in a great location and is light and airy. The house is a bit tired in places but fine as a base and good for families as close to beach and has a large garden.

Overall fantastic location and we had a good stay. Things to note for other guests, the driveway is extremely narrow and was unable to get out of the vehicle each side which caused issues loading/unloading the car, had to park at the bottom of the driveway. The downstairs shower room has a high step so anyone with mobility issues may struggle I hadRead more to help my mum in and out each morning. The TV was a little intermittent and unable to load Netflix wouldn't normally bother us if it was summer but was a bit annoying as we stayed over Christmas and had dark nights so wanted to use TV in the evening. The dishwasher had a fault and tripped out the electric on Christmas eve I called both Original Cottages and Dorset managed services and they resolved the issue by calling out an electrician who was there within the hour, they were fantastic! Would stay again if the shower was updated and made accessible as overall we were very comfy and the location is stunning. Look out for the amazing sunsets, the welcome goodies were a nice touch.
