A character cottage bursting with charm, nestled in the heart of the beautiful village of Tideswell. This pretty and distinctly Derbyshire village sits in the heart of the White Peak. Known for its dramatic scenery, it is in an area of outstanding beauty. The village itself dates back to the 14th century and boasts great local pubs, two restaurants, cafes, fish and chip shops, and sandwich shops, as well as a butcher, baker, and greengrocer. It is surrounded by must-visit towns. Excellent walking routes with rugged peaks are found to the north, gentle hills and dales to the south and Millers Dale (4 miles). Eyam, “The Plague Village”, with its eerie and fascinating history, sits just 5 miles to the east of Tideswell. Chatsworth House, Mam Tor and Castleton are within 11 miles and the popular spa town of Buxton is an 8-mile trip.
Markeygate Cottage is one of a group of properties dating back to the 17th century, in a courtyard setting complete with climbing roses. The main house adjacent is the oldest surviving house in Tideswell, dating back to the mid-15th century and with an impressive studded oak front door facing the main street.
