The dining area is separated from the living room with original feature timbers. Outside the chimney stack is a focal point and was copied by Vita Sackville West and used in her design at Sissinghurst Castle - the castle and gardens are minutes away.  You can walk to the village pub which offers a great selection of food and drink and there is a general store across the road.  Close by are the Wealden towns of Cranbrook and Tenterden and Rye is only a short drive away.  Kent is known as the Garden of England for good reason and there are numerous local vineyards and farm shops to explore. From golf courses and beaches to forest walks and cycle paths this really is an all round holiday destination. A fantastically gorgeous cottage. It is old, it does have uneven floors and low ceilings but that just adds to the character. Well maintained. Has everything you need. Provision of a great welcome basket and bathroom essentials a lovely touch. Well situated to enjoy many areas of Kent as well as walking distance to The Milkhouse pub and restaurantRead more. Hide

This is a most charming and historic cottage. It is very beautiful if you like character features, and the amazing slope of the floorboards upstairs is incredible! Probably not for tall people as some of the beams are low but for us it was perfect. Everything you could possibly need is provided in the cottage and the location is very convenient Read morefor many local attractions nearby. It is in a village that has a lot of through traffic, and is on a corner of a junction, so can be quite noisy at rush hour, but it did not detract from our enjoyment of the cottage. Hosts were lovely and could not do enough for us. Would absolutely recommend as a place to stay in Kent. Hide

Disappointing. TV room too small for 4 people and very uncomfortable. Property may be 500 years old but stairs and uneven flooring bordering on dangerous for children or elderly.

This cottage has lots of charm and authenticity. The owners make you feel very comfortable indeed. We stayed here in autumn so made no use of the garden which would have been slightly noisy otherwise. Sissinghurst is a top location for visiting sights such as National Trust properties. We have never lived slap bang in the middle of a village and itRead more was a great experience, being within walking distance to the shop, the pub and the chippy. Tall people (like us) beware. You have to duck quite a bit in places but we managed to avoid any bumps on the head. Parking is great. Just as the seating, the bathroom and the beds. A great property! Hide

The cottage is delightful and the village pretty, with a lovely pub and very handy well stocked shop nearby. The owners were generous with the essentials and lots of lovely thoughtful touches, which is not the standard for holiday cottage lets and therefore very much appreciated. The road running through the village was busier than I expected, thRead moreough the additional glazing of the windows does eliminate a lot of this noise. It is of course far more noticeable with the doors or windows open, but I suspect this wouldn't bother everyone. Our stay unfortunately coincided with some emergency roadworks which greatly exacerbated the problem. This aside I would very much recommend this cottage for its comfort and the decor. As you would expect with a cottage of this age the original features are very quirky and extra care is required on the stairs. Thank you to the owners for the use of their beautiful cottage for the week. Hide

Lovely quirky place, but the low beam in the kitchen was a challenge for our tall family. Location was great for a variety of days out. Traffic was quite loud at times.
