A very nice comfortable house in a great location in the centre of Southwold, but badly let down by poor management and maintenance. The property has a large garden with a great comfortable garden room. It is very close to the town centre and seafront and beaches. We felt the property was somewhat neglected and had not been prepared properly befoRead morere our arrival. Several lights needed new bulbs which the owner did supply a few days later. Cleaning was patchy at best, particularly the kitchen and one bathroom. The cooker and microwave were unacceptably dirty. Several windows were faulty or unopenable. One window had missing safety catches and fell down alarmingly. The wet room floor was breaking up and needs urgent repair. The boiler controls were not set up properly and the boiler came on all through the night. There is no information pack for the house and locality. The owner really needs to spend time and money bringing the property up to an acceptable standard. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. Please be assured the concerns you have raised have been discussed with the owner of the property. Hide

I would recommend this property to a friend, with the reservations mentioned above: it has a superb summerhouse and a spacious kitchen to accommodate eight or even ten guests - plus a wonderful fridge/freezer too! There is a large, very pleasant private garden with a barbecue, and is situated very close to the town and the beach. There are walksRead more surrounding the town: along the seafront, alongside the harbour, across the bridge to Walberswick, along the coastal path to Dunwich, excellent for walkers. Hide
