Escape to this delightful cottage that sits right on the Suffolk coast, within 50 metres of the town’s famous beach and the wonderful Edwardian pier. It’s in a great location on Pier Avenue, near the bustling high street where independent bakeries, galleries, cafes, pubs, and gift shops can be found. You can enjoy morning walks along the seafront to the award-winning Southwold Beach, a beautiful place to relax that’s backed by colourful beach huts and watched over by lifeguards in the summer. Visit the harbour, which is only 1.5 miles away, and take the summer-only foot ferry across the River Blyth to the seaside village of Walberswick (8 miles by car). Discover Walberswick’s nature reserve, home to otters, five species of deer and natterjack toads, while keen bird spotters can look out for bitterns, woodlarks and nightjars. Young nature lovers can also go crabbing in Walberswick’s lovely harbour.
Step through into the wide hallway to drop off bags and coats, then continue through to the modern and well-equipped kitchen. A charming dining room sits just adjacent to it providing a lovely, large table for sharing mealtimes together. Relax in the beautiful sitting room where comfortable furniture and a wood burner create a warm and welcoming space during the evenings. French doors in this room frame the picturesque garden and allow natural light to enter this space. At bedtime, a convenient downstairs bedroom awaits, offering comfortable, zip-and-link twin beds, which can be made up as one double bed if requested when booking. It also has its own private, en-suite shower room. Climb pretty, pine stairs to discover a further three comfortable bedrooms, made up of two double bedrooms and one single bedroom. On this floor, you’ll also find the traditional family bathroom and a separate WC.
The French doors in the lounge lead straight out into the private, south-facing garden, where mature shrubbery and a large lawn create a scenic, protected place to unwind and play games. A delightful patio area features outdoor seating and a BBQ, a perfect setting for dinner and drinks as the sun goes down. An outdoor hose ensures you can wash off sandy feet after fun-filled days at the beach. An attached brick garage provides storage for your bikes, while a covered side alley (accessed from the kitchen) is a great space to hang wetsuits and swimming towels.
