Situated within the Old Carriage Works, part of a Great Western Railway building originally constructed in the 1860s and designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, this stunning three-storey house is in the centre of Lostwithiel next to the River Fowey. Lostwithiel is one of the original and oldest towns in Cornwall. It is called a stannary town due to its historic links to tin mining and the Duchy of Cornwall. The town is situated in a beautiful, wooded valley within easy reach of both Cornish coasts, the moors, and all of Cornwall’s attractions including the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the latest attraction, Bodmin Jail all sits within 14 miles of the property. Walkers can join the Saints’ Way that runs along the edge of the town or explore the South West Coastal Path for some spectacular views.
Enter this fabulous historical building and you are immediately in the spacious hallway with kitchen leading off. Fully equipped with everything you need for your stay, this wonderful kitchen offers grand windows and lots of space. Also next to the hallway is the large lounge/diner with seating for all the family to enjoy a meal or snuggle up on the sofa and watch all of your favourite programmes. Again, this room offers very high ceilings and wonderful large period windows for lots of natural light. Upstairs on the first floor are two great size rooms, one double and one king-size, both with Velux windows and a great sense of space. The king-size has a lovely en-suite shower room and views over the river. The first floor also includes a games room with another Smart TV and lots of board games for kids and adults alike to enjoy. Completing this floor is a family bathroom. Up on the top floor is a very large twin room, with an additional single bed should you require it, as well as Velux windows, and a very handy work space offering a screen, keyboard and mouse to plug your laptop into should you need. The twin beds can easily be made into a large super-king-size bed.
