This is a newly-listed delightful family-friendly property located in the bustling fishing village of Staithes on the stunning North Yorkshire coast with its colourful cottages, cosy cafes, and art galleries – a long time magnet for artists who come to paint the quaint fisherman’s cottages and the beautiful harbour. People of all ages will enjoy exploring the sandy beach and rock pools. The property was owned for a time by the artist Laura Johnson, later titled Dame Laura Knight. Further afield you can visit Whitby with its historic Abbey and many bars and restaurants. Why not pop into the popular pub on the waterfront for lunch or dinner, or perhaps fish and chips at the waterfront café. For keen walkers, head inland to the wonderful North York Moors National Park.
Once inside the property, you will notice the many original features. The comfortable and stylish living room has a cosy wood burner and is a great place to curl up and enjoy your favourite show on the TV or make plans for the next day’s exploring. The kitchen, with all modern facilities, has a dining table and chairs, great for sharing meals, and an original cast iron oven (not in use). On the first floor there is a double bedroom and a large family bathroom with the original feature fireplace still in place. On the second floor you will find the second double bedroom with views across the village.
To the rear of the property, there is a small courtyard with seating and here you will also find the separate utility/outbuilding with a washer/dryer and WC. Close by there are several grassy locations with benches to sit and gaze out to sea – as indeed did Captain James Cook who worked as an apprentice in the grocers shop as a very young man.
