This cottage has so much potential. Great location, comfortable, plenty of room for the six of us, but it definitely isnt a 4*. Parts of the cottage are very worn and tired looking, especially the kitchen. And the whole place needs a fresh coat of paint. On the surface the cottage appeared to be clean, but I dont think the kitchen wall tiles have sRead moreeen a good scrub in a while and we had to clean the doormat ourselves it was so dirty. We had to clean the kitchen worktops and wash most of the pots when we arrived. There was a parking permit in the cottage, which would have been a huge bonus for 2 large cars that wouldnt fit on the driveway - but it was out of date. One shower between 6 people took a lot of organisation on a morning. It would be easy to put a shower in over the bath in the downstairs bathroom. The outside area is overgrown and uncared for. In fact, the whole place just feels uncared for. Its the little things - the home comforts - that make a cottage holiday 4*. Sadly, Driftwood just didnt meet our expectations, which is a shame because we loved the actual cottage and the location. Hide

This is a lovely cottage, comfortable and cosy. The location is the star - great walks from the the cottage, two local pubs - we only went to the Joiners Arms down the road - very dog friendly and good food. The beds are comfortable, the water plentiful and hot, an enclosed garden for our dog with a fabulous outlook across the fields. There was a lRead moreot of crockery and equipment in the kitchen, though some of the bowls and mugs needed replacing due to chips and cracks - but as there was plenty and only two of us, it didn't impact on our stay - if there were more people staying, it might. The drive is a little difficult to get in and out of, though we do have a large-ish car, but that, again, didn't detract from our enjoyment of the cottage. There was an issue with black mould in the shower room upstairs, which Sykes dealt with quickly. We were a little taken aback at the information regarding bins being put out, in that it threatened guests with being banned from retuning if they didn't comply. Whilst we appreciate it must be frustrating if guests don't, it just feels a bit confrontational and not something we've come across in other cottage stays. We normally set an alarm to remind us to put the bins out, when on holiday, as they're obviously on different days around the country. We would suggest other guests do something to remind themselves if they think they might forget, and might want to return. Overall, a lovely week in a lovely cottage - bin sagas not withstanding, we would definitely consider returning. Hide

This house is in a fantastic location with coastal walks from the door. The facilities are great including the boot room and utility room with an extra fridge and washer/dryer. The rooms are all a good size and the kitchen is well equipped. The beds are comfy, and the shower was powerful and hot. We struggled with parking a large estate car on Read morethe drive, its quite tight, and wouldnt fit two large cars. But there is a visitors parking permit provided, so on-street parking could be used. Would we return? Maybe because of the propertys location, but Id like to see an improvement from the cleaning team! Hide

A lovely position with short walks to 2 very different beaches both loved by our dog. Also having access to 2 pub restaurants was great and was a bonus to not travel out in the evening after a days sight seeing. The house inside was comfortable with comfy beds and appropriate decorations. Would love to return but would prefer a more usable outsidRead moree space and a 2nd shower over the bath. A must with 4 adults. Thank you Hide

A spacious house with an excellent living space. The kitchen is a little tired & could do with a makeover & updated kitchen appliances eg a Coffee machine/Nespresso. Two great upstairs bedrooms & one very small double & one shower room between six people is inadequate. This could be easily solved with a shower above the bath downstairs. Bring yoRead moreur own basic supplies as no loo roll, soap or kitchn welcome pack on arrival just a few packets of biscuits & there's no shop within driving distance. A nice house and location but after a lot of visitors (canine & human) it was pretty tired and in need of a good clean and some maintenance. Further let down by not even a stick of wood in the log basket, less than 1 full toilet roll in the house for 2 bathrooms . . .
