This is our 4th time here. We find it convenient for the hotels and pubs for eating out during the day or evening, Also good to wander around Alnmouth or walk down to the beach without taking the car. No garden for the dogs although a wonderful beach. Cottage clean tidy and warm. Well equipped, although we always have trouble working out how to useRead more the oven on the only occasion we ate in. Alnmouth totally dog friendly. Our dog now thinks of this as her second home. We find it best to reverse down the Pinfold and park outside the cottage. Hide

Very much improved property since the lounge/dining area has been refurnished. Very central location for all the dog friendly Alnmouth eateries. No garden but easy walking distance to the beach for dog walking. Plenty of room for 2 adults but may be a bit cramped (cosy) with 4 adults. Very well equipped kitchen although we ate out most nights.

Great situation in Alnmouth. Cottage clean and well equipped generally. Much improved fro our last visit. It is down a very narrow passage and has no back yard or small garden so only one door at the front. Can park outside but at least a five or six point turn required even for a small car. Very pet friendly inside with lots of stuff for visiting Read moredogs which is great but if they need to go it always has to be a walk to find any grassy area. Hide

Pinfold Retreat is an ideally located small cottage in the village of Alnmouth, which must have one of the best beaches in England. It is well equipped: washing machine, dishwasher & smart tv are all available. The beds are comfortable, the linen of good quality & a plentiful supply of good sized towels are provided. Overall, there is a good level Read moreof cleanliness. However, the sitting room seating could not be more uncomfortable. It is nothing like the armchair, settee and footstool photographed on the website. There is a wooden chair & a small 2 seater wooden bench that are low off the ground (the height of a 2 pint milk bottle) and low backed with thin seat cushions. It is impossible to relax on them and many people will struggle getting down & up from them. A permit referred to in the arrival instructions turns out not to exist or be required. There is no welcome information pack and I had to enquire about the WiFi code & absent parking permit. Luckily, a pleasant and helpful person was available when I rang the support number. Parking is outside the cottage and the space to turn the car around is limited (the lane is a narrow dead end) but there is no passing traffic and the parking most welcome - parking is at a premium in Alnmouth. It is a cottage that has great potential to be a cosy retreat, but for me totally spoilt by such uncomfortable sitting room furniture. Hide

Alnmouth is a lovely village , and this small and generally well equipped cottage is in the heart of the village . Better for winter than summer , when the lack of outlook would be a disadvantage. Good hosts.
