There’s so much joy to be had when staying in this Southwold holiday home, a remarkable six-bedroom property that’s simply teeming with character. Southwold is a wonderful place to stay on the East Suffolk coast, with pastel-painted terraces, beach huts and family-run fish and chip shops. The beach is within half a mile, and on your way there you’ll encounter a wide array of boutique shops and eateries that deserve to be explored. Admire the commanding scenery of the Suffolk Heritage Coast with a walk along the seafront, perhaps following a pathway all the way past the neighbouring village of Walberswick (1.5 miles) to discover Dunwich Beach (8 miles) and RSPB Minsmere (11 miles).

This gorgeous three-storey property, which has undergone a major refurbishment recently, is the perfect choice for large families and groups of friends. On entry, you can store coats and shoes in the spacious hallway before heading into the large open-plan kitchen/dining room with a full range of appliances, an island with bar stools, and a dining area. You’ve also got a handy utility room. Next up is the spacious living room with comfortable seating, a Smart TV and a wood burner. For a bit of relaxation or friendly games-based rivalry, there is also a separate snug/games room with games console, TV and ample comfortable seating. A small WC completes the ground floor. Up on the first floor, four fabulous bedrooms await, two of which have en-suite bathrooms. The first bedroom has a super-king-size bed and an en-suite shower room; the second has a king-size bed and and en-suite shower room; the third has a super-king-size bed, which is a zip-and-link bed so it can be made up as a twin on request, while the fourth bedroom comprises twin beds. You’ll also find a chic bathroom with a bath and separate shower. The second floor is home to a king-size bedroom, a lovely twin bedroom and a shower room.

Outside, there is plenty of space for relaxation and al fresco dining. While there is a garden to the front, the enclosed rear garden is the more private of the two. It features furniture and a large gas BBQ so you can make the most of the warm weather. Private parking is available for three cars, as well as roadside parking for one car. An added bonus of this wonderful holiday destination is that it has its own beach hut, available on request.

Excellent base for a family holiday. Quiet location with good views and within easy walking distance of the town, beach, pier, common and harbour.

This is a very nice property, with superb facilities, location. We will definitely be booking again in the future. The parking at the back for two cars is incredibly useful during peak season in Southwold.

Brilliant location. Really nice furnishings and bed linen (great beds!) and fantastically equipped kitchen. All makes for a very comfortable stay indeed. We keep coming back!

Great Location and a nice house which to relax in, the parking spot at the back of the house is a godsend and can be used for 2 cars with one parked across the bay... Reasonably appointed, comfortable beds, dining kitchen which will easily sit 10. The garden is quite large at the back and the front garden overlooks the Common and is great for sitRead moreting in watching the sun set with a glass of wine etc. This house is quite handy for the high street and the shop/ restaurants etc being only 5 minutes away, but is a reasonable walk to Gun Hill 20 mins or so... Most things needed in a holiday let are covered but we couldn't get the Sonus music streaming system to work off any of our iPhones but might just be us ! This is our 4th time in Forest lodge so that should say a lot ... Hide
