Property code: OC-1SEAV

Set in a fantastic harbourside location and within 150 yards of the hub of the town’s facilities, this two-storey cottage is a great choice for families wanting a seaside holiday, for friends wishing to explore the coastal walks and enjoy pub lunches or just for a couple seeking a retreat at any time of the year. Storm watching is a particular favourite in the winter season here. Porthleven’s picturesque and bustling harbour is found amidst an excellent range of independent eateries, take-aways and galleries to browse at your leisure. The main sand and shingle beach is good for swimming, rock-pooling and family fun and if you head a little further along the coast path, you’ll come to Looe Bar Beach (1.5 miles). For those feeling energetic there’s a fabulous circular walk around Looe Bar Pool stopping on the way round at Penrose for coffee and cake.

The cottage is positioned in a small terrace alongside the harbour where relaxing outside people-watching will become a pastime. Entering the cosy living room, decorated and furnished in coastal colours, you’ll be drawn to the window to admire the views. With an archway through into the well-equipped and spacious kitchen/dining room, the ground floor is designed for sociable, easy living. The convenient cloakroom on this level provides useful space for coats and shoes and with a sliding door from the kitchen leading to the rear yard there’s outdoor space for washing off boots after winter walks. The first floor is home to the three bedrooms and shower room with the main bedroom at the front providing open views across the harbour and out to sea. Fall asleep to the sound of the water lapping against the harbour wall. The cosy single room to the front also has water views and the second double bedroom tucked away to the rear is well designed for comfort and relaxation.

Outside there is an enclosed paved terrace to the front with seating – perfect for your morning coffee and croissant or evening drinks listening to the sounds of the harbour activities. To the rear is a small yard – with access across for the neighbouring cottages – but a useful space for washing off your beach gear.

The views are beautiful. The weather wasnt kind to us but it didnt spoil our holiday as we were comfortable and loved people watching. Also the ebb and fow of the tides, the boats in & out of the harbour etc. We love Porthleven & will be back again!
