The Terrace Barn is a beautifully converted barn, tastefully designed by the owners, set in a peaceful location with beautiful views of the rolling countryside in every direction. Set back from the Masham road down a tree lined lane, Terrace Barn offers you a quiet and private stay with long pastoral views across the fields towards the picture postcard village of West Tanfield.

Relaxing on the terrace, guests can enjoy the view and beautiful sunsets over Well Bank to the west. The name ‘Terrace Barn’ derives from the Georgian name given to the clifftop riverside walk along the River Ure which runs alongside the field directly outside the property. The Terrace is part of a circular walk called the Ripon Rowel Walk and gives you the chance to stop for a bite to eat at one of the three local pubs in North Stainley or West Tanfield before your return journey. The barn is also on a former Tour De France route, which makes it a great base for cyclists as well as walkers.

Built of local honey coloured stone, the Terrace Barn has been described as having a French rustic aesthetic from the outside. The interior on the other hand, whilst being cosy, is anything but rustic, providing an exceptionally high standard of accommodation. Italian Cassina bendy back settees and the iconic Italian Artemide standard light in the living room, along with handmade wrought iron dining table and chairs, designed by the owner, lit with a hand-blown glass pendant light. The rooms are decorated with original artwork and studio ceramics throughout by renowned artists and makers.

The accommodation is well laid out all on the ground floor, making it accessible for those with limited mobility, with an entrance lobby and boot & coat cupboard, a large open plan living/dining room with cosy log burning stove and glass door to a paved terrace with seating. A well-equipped kitchen, comfortable bedroom with en-suite and separate shower room and WC.

This lovely barn conversion would make a fabulous retreat for couples who enjoy the Yorkshire Dales. Whatever your interests, there is something for everyone; historic castles and ruins, abbeys, the Dales and Moors National Parks, walking, cycling, superb local market towns with the very best Yorkshire produce and of course, restaurants and tea rooms too numerous to mention.
