The cottage was one of the best eqipped we`ve ever used enabling economical use of the dishwasher and had everything we needed. beds were comfortable and rooms well furnished for storage and it was a nice comfortable space for a group of 7 to use. The garden was on the small side being on a modern extate but the addition of the hot tub and games roRead moreom made up for that somewhat. Great having two parking spaces too. The unfortunate downside was a leak in the kitchen ceiling / light fittings which palgued us from the first day. We had set out the evening meal on platters to choose from when we notivced that water had gathered in the light fitting and dripped steadily onto the plate of prepared meats. Giving that we did not know the origin of this water we thus had to throw away part of our prepared meal. I reported it immediately and got a prompt response with the handyman visiting the next day whilst we were out we were advised. Te handyman service also called to confirm attendance and to advise that they had dried out the fitting and it was safe to use. eating in that evening I put the light on and immediately the circuits blew. I`d found the fuebox so was easy enough to flick up the switch which blew again. We took a bulb out, dried it, eset the fuse and determigned not to use that light again although it left us eating in a darker environment than we`d have liked with no dining room lighting and just the ambient from the kitchen spotlights. I reported the issue again and another handyman came out the next day. He advised that they`d had previous issues with the same area , as we had seen evidenced by staining around the light fitting. We pointed out that the ceiling was staining again and and broadening. We were advised to take care with the shower fitting alignment in main bathroom but felt this wasn`t the issue as we had taken care and the constant dripping was not happening solely after showers but also when none had been taken.he siliconed around a tap but the problem didn`t ease and the stainign area expanded. We were forced to leave a bowl on the table under the fitting to collect drips and not to use a couple of places at the table which restricted our enjoyment a little a 7 of us were crammed onto the rest of the table. It was reported a third time by texxt and advised that they`d try to sort it once we had left. Hopefully it will be before the next guests arrive. On the last day I noticed a couple of areas at the bottom of the tiled wall facing th toilet in the ensuite where grouting . silicone might by lacking that might lead to build up of water withing ceiling finding its way out but I`m no expert. This was the only disappointing aspect to our stay but tainted it a little and made us more inlcined to go out for meals. At this price point I would have expected a clearly ongoing issue to have been sorted out prior to our visit. Maybe it`s a wider issue as we noted stains to the living room ceiling by the garden doors too. Re: return of deposit I did photograph and report a small dent in the dining room table and cracking of the fridge door compartment at the edge of the milk section on arrival. Please arrange for repayment of my deposit asap as Wew suffered / caused no breakages ourselves. I`ll be interested to see if you offer us any compensation re: the leak too but again say that this was the only annoying problem we faced in what was generally a nice place to stay Hide

This cottage was clean, well equipped, and in a good location. The only negative is that for a property which quite rightly says that dogs are not allowed in bedrooms finding three dog beds and a blanket stored directly underneath the bed in the en suite room is completely unacceptable . Otherwise everything was very good

A very well equipped house and extremely comfortable. Beds very comfy and tv's in all rooms is a bonus. Games room would be ideal for families however being a party of ladies we didn't use it, but the hot tub was a treat although you have to pay extra for it. We had a fabulous meal at Sneaton Castle which is a 5 minute walk. The walk to Whitby is mRead moreainly downhill and a 28 minute walk, but we got a taxi back to the house Hide

The house is in a good quiet location, about 20-30mins walk from the sea front. There is a large Lidl close by which was great for groceries. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the overall standard of cleanliness throughout the house. For example, we found mould around the bathroom taps, dirty oven racks, and part of a discarded potato wafflRead moree under the kitchen bin (we didn't eat potato waffles). We had a lovely holiday but feel the house would benefit from a deep clean. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk - Thank you for your feedback we have fed this back to the management team and the cleaners - thanks again for your feedback Hide

A lovely house, very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Children really enjoyed hot tub and games room, and everything worked well. We had a lovely stay and house was perfect for us. Walk into Whitby was a bit far for our 5 year old, but no problem parking when we drove in.

The overall review of the property has been brought down badly by the really poor level of cleanliness across the whole house. There are rolls of dust on top of the fabric headboards, there are hairs from previous guests in drawers, dust furballs in the ensuite bedroom floor, a single pink kid's trainer on the floor in the downstairs hallway and Read morean oven tray we had to wash ourselves on arrival. The tumble dryer doesn't work, but there is only 1 clothes airer in the house - a property which can accommodate 8 people. The property has so much more potential, because of its size, location and comfort; but this is all at risk because of really poor cleaning standards. Really disappointed Response from holidaycottages.co.uk - Thank you for your comments we have fed back your comments to the management team for their attention. Hide
