Eye is a pretty market town nestled in the countryside, with castle ruins, one of Suffolk’s finest medieval churches, a pub serving food, several takeaway restaurants, two cafes, and two convenience stores, all within 0.5 miles of the property. Footpaths encircle the town, via woodlands, fields, and the water meadows of The Pennings, the town’s nature reserve alongside the River Dove. Browse the independent shops, pick up a delicious supper from the local butchers or the deli, and treat yourself to luscious hand-made chocolates. Hop in the car to visit the picturesque villages surrounding Eye and walk the beautiful woodland trails at Thornham Walks (4 miles). Further afield, near the pretty village of Stanton (15 miles), Wyken Vineyards offers a Saturday farmers’ market and a gorgeous country store. Enjoy a scrumptious lunch or dinner at the Leaping Hare, its renowned cafe and restaurant (book ahead!).

The property sits within the historic conservation area in Eye. Enter this lovely bolthole for two through the unique original stable door with its iron latches, and step directly into a welcoming space that has been lovingly refurbished. The open-plan room offers a stylish kitchen with all appliances, a dining area, and a living space with a sumptuous corner sofa just waiting to be snuggled into after a day of exploring. Adjacent to the seating area is a large double door which opens onto the stable courtyard. In the warmer months, throw the doors open and let the gentle breeze glide through the house. Upstairs, in what was originally a hayloft, your private oasis awaits. The spacious super-king-size bedroom is light, bright and luxurious – a haven for you to relax in. Completing the property is a shower room.

A small open courtyard, with original stable block paving, is at the front of the property and available to use with a bistro table and chairs.

This Coach House was a wonderful place to spend the long Easter weekend. It was spacious, clean and equipped to a very high standard - especially the kitchen area. The springtime views from the upstairs bedroom over the garden were glorious. We arrived to a very generous welcome package of local produce and other items, and an information pack abouRead moret things to do in the area. Eye is a friendly and attractive small town/large village, with some good shops (2 x co-op, butcher, baker, deli etc.) and an excellent cafe (Cafeye) - highly recommend the cooked breakfast! There is an interesting historical walk around the village and also several walks from the front door. We ate at the nearby Auberge (highly recommend) and did the parkrun and Thornham walks, which was great. It was easy to get to Framlington (Ed Sheeran territory), Aldeburgh, Sutton Hoo, RSPB Minsmere and Snape Maltings. We missed out on Orford Ness as booking is needed well in advance - something for next time we visit. A 5 -star, luxury experience, which was just what we needed! Thank you, Alison! Hide
