If you are searching for a holiday to get away from it all then this might just be it…a very lovely cottage, forming part of a traditional North York Moors longhouse, Moors Edge Cottage is perched high up on the hillside overlooking the village of Rosedale Abbey and has truly breathtaking views to boot.

With stunning scenery through every window, this inviting cottage is great for family or friends get-togethers, or even a romantic retreat if you fancy a bit more space than usual. There are two bedrooms sleeping four: one a super king and the other a twin. Enjoy a morning brew while listening to the birds and watching the early springtime lambs, dine alfresco and take in the far reaching vistas from the gardens in midsummer or cosy up round the log burner for those cooler evenings after a bracing hike. This super convenient cottage has superfast fibre broadband, underfloor heating, plenty of parking, a handy outside tap to wash the moors mud off and a garage for storing bikes.

While you can experience the peace, quiet and remoteness that the cottage offers, there is so much to do on the doorstep. So whether it is biking, hiking, sight-seeing or tea room-ing, you will be spoiled for choice all year round with Rosedale Abbey’s two cafes, charming Hutton-le-Hole a few miles away and the vibrant market town of Helmsley and its many eateries making a great trip out. You’ll be spoilt for choice for great walks and picnic spots literally from the doorstep being situated within the North York Moors National Park, and a little further afield there are Castle Howard, Dalby Forest and even the Yorkshire Coast with seasonal activities aplenty, great for day trips.

It is all on one level with a couple of steps up to the property and also between the kitchen/dining/living area and the bedrooms.

Wow, what a property. If you are after somewhere secluded and off the beaten track but also within driving distance to some great days out you can do no better than here. We arrived when bad weather hit and the hosts allowed us to check in early, they suggested alternate routes so we avoided travelling over the moors in the snow and ice. Read more When we arrived we were greated with an amazing location (the track to the property didn't seem an issue in a small family car even in icey conditions) Lots to see and do locally but for me personally as a photographer who specialises in astrophotography the night sky is stunning and you are also rewarded with some gorgeous sunrises with your morning coffee as well. We can't wait to rebook again next year. Hide

A fantastic location for exploring the North Yorkshire Moors and Coast. The cottage is warm and comfortable however feels quite isolated after dark (I was staying there with just my dog for company and nobody was occupying the main house) You need to be ready for the quiet and darkits quite extreme! Cottage was lovely, spacious and cosy views were spectacular. Remote, just how we like it, plenty of walking routes. Not far to Pickering and other areas. Will definitely be going again. Only slight downside was the track in. Our car is quite low and it did bottom a couple of times but we sorted that by straddling the area.

Beautiful cottage on a stunning location. Its really quiet, which we loved, and yet only approximately 15 minutes walk to Rosedale Abbey and its pubs and tearooms (one with a small store). Lovely location and comfortable beds and plenty of hooks and storage space! The views were fabulous. Lighting is a little lacking in the sofa area. Maybe a standard lamp too?

Stunning location for this well equipped and tastefully decorated cottage, so peaceful with just sheep for company. Very comfortable beds, the sofa less so but I am fussy so dont let that put you off. Lots of nice little touches to welcome you - Border biscuits are my favourite and milk in the fridge. Lots to do in the area and walks straight from Read morethe door. Hide

Fabulous location and marvellous views from cottage. A relaxing and peaceful place to stay with ample parking and proximity to farm land. Good for dogs but need to be kept on lead due to sheep. Hard stone floors throughout with uneven steps leading into kitchen.

Considering its for 4 people, you had a 1cup caffertia . You had 1 x 10 inch frying pan , there was no grill pan as such, just the base of one no grill rack , you had to use a shelf as a rack, also teapot only big enough for 2 cups.
