The heart of Martham has a large village green with Georgian houses, shops, pubs and restaurants. The village plays host during summer months to various events such as the Beer Festival, Scarecrow Festival and Carnival. Located on the southern edge of The Broads National Park and close to the sandy beaches of the east coast, Martham is a great location to explore this part of Norfolk. Highlights of the area include the wonderful dune-backed sandy beach at Winterton-on-Sea, great for family days out and there are plenty of walks in the area, including the Norfolk Coastal Path. Just a little further up the coast is Horsey Gap that is home to a Common Seal colony; visit over the winter and you will see the enchanting seal pups too. The Broads themselves have over 125 miles of waterways, walks and nature trails to explore and for a little history mixed in with some retail therapy a day out in Norwich is easily done.
