Barmouth, located at the mouth of the Mawddach Estuary, is a popular seaside resort with a fantastic, large, family-friendly beach, and is backed by lovely, green mountains with sceneries that will truly captivate you, and stunning sunsets - it's a place that has it all. Full of independent shops, cafes and restaurants, you won't be short of a place to browse or eat during your stay and a visit to the famous fish and chips shop, The Mermaid, to try their award-winning food is a must here in Barmouth. Enjoy walks up the sloping streets to the Old Town, also known as The Rock, where you'll be amazed by the panoramic views, and then Dinas Oleu hill where the views are also incredible, down to the harbour to see the boats or along the footbridge that crosses the Mawddach Estuary which is a truly beautiful spot. You can also catch the train across or a small, old-fashioned ferry. The vast beach has enough space for those wanting to quietly relax and admire the views over Cardigan Bay, or for children to build sandcastles, and with clear, turquoise water it's a perfect place for a swim, or you can take a paddleboard out on the sea. With a busy market that's on twice a week, amusements arcades and a fairground, it's a superb place for a seaside family holiday.
