These neighbouring cottages with adjacent gardens are perfect for a group of family or friends to enjoy a tranquil holiday together. Set in idyllic countryside in the sparsely populated area of Letheringham on the River Deben, these two homes make for a lovely rural escape. Despite the peaceful location, there are small villages and country pubs within a few miles. The larger town of Wickham Market is just 3 miles away with a good choice of restaurants and shops. Both the impressive Framlingham Castle and Orford Castle are within easy reach and make interesting day trips. The charming riverside town of Woodbridge, 7.5 miles away, is another good place to visit for the day. The town has an interesting history of boat-building and rope-making that can be explored at the local museum. It also boasts riverside walks and a good range of shops, galleries, pubs and restaurants. The countryside all around Letheringham offers many opportunities for walking, sightseeing and cycling, and the Suffolk Heritage Coast with its many fine beaches is just 16 miles away.

The cottages combine to offer sleeping arrangements for six in two self-contained homes with adjacent gardens. Both cottages have lovely period features throughout and an idyllic rural setting. The first cottage has an old-world feel in the living room with exposed beams and a red brick fireplace with a wood burner. There’s a comfortable corner sofa and a further sofa both gathered around the fireplace and the Smart TV. The fully fitted kitchen includes a dining table for four and access to the rear patio. Also on the ground floor is a shower room with a walk-in shower and a WC. Upstairs, guests will find a king-size bedroom and a twin bedroom. Note that access to the twin room is via the master bedroom. The second cottage also features a cosy living room with a wood burner and a Smart TV. There is a small dining table for two in the living room and a compact kitchen. Completing the cottage is a bathroom with a walk-in shower and a welcoming king-size bedroom.

Outside, large, landscaped gardens lead down to the riverbank. These gardens are a real feature of the homes and the two are linked together. Guests will find pretty trees and shrubs as well as an orchard. There is a pleasant patio set up with a table and chairs, so the whole group can gather for their meals alfresco. This is a lovely place to spend time where guests can listen to birdsong and watch the river flow by.

The above comments are intended to be helpful. We found the cottages to be very comfortable, especially the beds!, and we enjoyed our stay there, in spite of varied weather. The grounds were lovely, we enjoyed using the boat, and playing garden games. My daughter and family were very comfortable in Pike, but I felt that, although Perch had lovely bRead moreedroom and bathroom, I, personally, would have felt it a bit cramped, if we hadnt had the benefit of sharing Pike. The location was very peaceful, ideal for enjoying the outside space when weather permitted, and very quiet at night. Hide
