At the far end of the line is Dungeness - this headland is formed of a shingle beach whilst the RSPB Dungeness reserve is set back from the sea, boasting mile after mile of open shingle, freshwater pits, wet grassland and stunning wildflower meadows. Behind this the expansive area of Romney Marsh is also ideal for walking with miles of flat footpaths, quiet villages, and beautiful scenery to enjoy. To visit the marsh by bike you can follow National Cycle Network Route 2 from nearby Lydd or Hythe.

A lovely comfy cottage, with every convenience to make us feel at home, we didnt want for anything during our stay. The owner was kind and checked to make sure we were comfortable and heating was suitable for us. A great place to escape and relax, play golf, walk or visit Kent attractions. Thank you!

We stayed for a week at the end of October. When we arrived the house was cold but we turned the heating on and it was lovely and warm in a very short time. The view over the golf course and beyond is very good. Parking on the street was not a problem. Kitchen is well equipped, plenty of hot water, bed was comfortable.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely area. The house was spotless when we arrived and the welcome cakes, scones and tea bags were very thoughtful. The cottage is very well equipped with good quality, modern appliances. Its very close to the beach so perfect walks by the sea. Compact quiet pretty cottage. Quite a lot of steepish stairs which were a bit tricky for our elderly relative. Generally very comfortable with wonderful views across the golf course. 10 to 15 minute walk to local co-op and miniature railway station so very convenient location.

Very good location. A couple of miniutes walk from the beach with miles in either direction to walk along the shore. The links golf course at the back of the house meant scenic views across the area. Parts of the out of bounds area meant walkers were allowed to wander on the dune area next to the golf course which had wild birds visiting and resideRead morent , such as Skylarks nesting in the grasses. The Golf Club restaurant/Tea rooms/Licensed bar was conveniently out of the back gate and just across the car park with indoor and outdoor seating with a grassed area just in front of the putting practice area. The Jolly Fisherman in Greatstone about 30 minutes walk away did a very good Sunday Carvery. I booked in advance as it was Easter Sunday and the bar and restaurant were very busy. We visited Port Lympne Safari Park which was good. There is a station at Hamstreet about 10 mins drive with a free car park which allowed us to go by train to Canterbury (changing at Ashford) that was also good. The best trip was to Leeds Castle near Maidstone , about 45 mins drive. Spectacular looking place , being Easter there were lots of events and play areas for young children which were not used by us. But the Castle tour was particularly well organised with free headsets giving audio commentary , each room detected when you entered and so started the commentary but when it finished you could move on or not as suited you so you could photograph , linger and look at your own pace. Cookie's Coastguard Cottage is a friendly and well-equipped house on three floors with a nice garden. It is 5 minutes walk from the sea front and 5 minutes by car to local shops in New Romney. We stayed with two children under 5 and it was ideal as a base for exploring the area. The welcome pack on arrival was much appreciated!

Cottage is in a very good position. Easy (free) parking, easy walk-able distance from beach. Back gate exit on to Golf Course made it safe for the children to play. Well equipped kitchen. Loved the original diagonal fireplace in the master bedroom.

We all thought the cottage was lovely and in great condition, had a lot of character and a nice view over the golf course. I'd personally book again if I was going to the area. Bedrooms were great, especially the top with the ensuite. The weather was kind and mostly dry and sunny both days but windy on the Saturday. We went cycling both days. A rouRead morend trip to Hythe following the beach and returning by the canal past the zoo. Plenty of stops for coffee and lunch on the way and a pint in the Star Inn on the way back. We ate in the Turkish restaurant in New Romsey for 2 nights - good value. We had a few beers and watched live music in the local pub at the far end of New Romney. We also had another ride to Dungeness which was interesting and stopped for a Fish roll on the way back - delicious. Overall it was a great weekend and we're thinking of making it a yearly event.
