A stunning property, exceptionally well designed inside, enjoying the most fabulous views, Railway Cottage has been lovingly and very stylishly brought back to life and is now available for up to four people and a dog (at no additional charge!) to relax and enjoy a break in beautiful Derbyshire.

The history of this cottage only adds to its appeal: a former railway manager’s cottage, it sits on one of the disused lines which is now one of the most popular walking and cycling trails in Derbyshire, the High Peak Trail. This makes it the perfect retreat for those wanting to cycle or walk from their doorstep.

The cottage retains many original features including beamed ceilings, stone floors, traditional stonework around the fireplaces and windows, some of which still retain the original decorative iron window frames, adding charm and style to this stunning property.

The accommodation comprises:

Ground Floor:

Kitchen:  with beautiful limestone flooring and hand-built units, Belfast sink, electric oven and hob, fridge and slim dishwasher.

Living Room: with antique drop-leaf dining table and four chairs, sofa and two armchairs, wood burning stove in the Derbyshire stone fireplace, Smart TV, WiFi (new WiFi system installed March 2025) and DAB radio, books and games, attractive furnishings and a range of lighting to suit every mood.

Utility Room: with freezer, microwave and washer/dryer.

Cloakroom: with WC and basin.

First Floor:

Bedroom One: with king size bed.

Bedroom Two: a double bed with antique brass bedstead.

Shower Room: large shower cubicle with rain head shower and rinser attachment, WC and basin.

Outside: a generous garden wraps right around the property, with a wooden bench at the front to make the most of the incredible view. Outside the front wall, there are picnic benches and the footpath that is open to the public, but all very quiet in the evenings. There is a barbecue and garden furniture allowing you a choice of seating and more private outdoor dining and relaxation to the sides and rear of the property. There is secure storage for bikes and an outside tap for washing muddy bikes, boots and paws, near the back door that leads into the utility room.

Parking: a dedicated off-road parking space is located just 160 metres along the Trail (no vehicular access to the property - but a trolley is provided to assist with transporting luggage and shopping).

Bed linen and towels provided.

Underfloor heating downstairs, radiators upstairs; electricity and an initial basket of logs for the stove included.

One dog is welcome at no additional charge. Sorry, no cats.

Loved the cottage so comfortable & thought the PIR lights were great. Only slight downside was the 4 diggers at the back of the property on the 2 days which were very noisy. Lovely place in an amazing setting with beautiful views, although, the path leading to the property is part of a public footpath so be prepared for strangers passing by, more often in the summer. The house is surrounded by a low stone wall fence and a gate so is secure for small to medium size dogs. As the car park is a bit of a walk from the houseRead more, there is a trolley for your luggage which was very useful. Well equipped kitchen and very comfortable beds, everything is high quality. Log burner adds to the calm and relaxing atmosphere. We enjoyed our stay very much. Hide

We had a great week at this cottage. The facilities provided were great, and the garden is a perfect place to relax. The bed was extremely comfortable with the only major downside was the slow/weak wifi, however it depends on your situation whether this will bother you or not. Overall we had an amazing time, enjoying the scenic views and the local Read moretrails. Both the Knockerdown pub and The Miners Arms are great local pubs, however be mindful it is quite expensive with a simple pub meal coming to around 17. Hide

Railway Cottage has all the features you would want to make you feel you are staying somewhere special. We loved being right on the trail, and sitting in front the property enjoying the amazing view and now and again saying hi to passing cyclists and walkers. The interior is charming, it is equipped with every you need from cooking a 3 course familRead morey meal to an alfresco BBQ. The house is very clean and linens all freshly arranged. If you are worried about car parking, dont, you leave the car a little away from the house but its only a short walk on a well gravel like path. Hide
