The Old Dairy is a wonderful barn conversion just down the lane from the square in the centre of the famous Peak District village of Hartington. It provides spacious and flexible holiday accommodation with a magnificent lounge, superb dining kitchen, four bedrooms, three bathrooms, underfloor heating throughout, a games room, lots of outdoor space and ample parking.

Hartington is set in glorious countryside with its village duck pond, great pubs, local stores and famous cheese shop. Scenic walks go off in every direction, down into lovely Dovedale, across to magnificent Manifold Dale or over the ‘tops’ on the Midshires Way.

Parsley Hay cycle hire on the nearby Tissington Trail, a trip to superb Chatsworth House or beautiful Haddon Hall or just a pie and a pint in a village pub are other enjoyable ways of spending an afternoon. If Hartington is the perfect Peak District location, then please remember that all Derbyshire’s other attractions – castles, caverns, cable cars, canals, steam trains, tram rides, wildlife sanctuaries, watersports, historic houses, craft centres and theme parks, including Alton Towers, - are all within a 20 minute drive.

An excellent layout for our walking group of 3 couples and 2 singles, lovely size rooms and good quality furnishings etc. Although situated very near to the village which was convenient, once at the cottage it was really quiet and secluded. We appreciated the garden as it was v hot whilst there. The table tennis, darts and games were used!

Great location with the Hartington shops and pubs in easy walking distance. Excellent Friday evening fish and chips from the van on the green. Great centre for local walks and cycling as well exploring further afield. Good accommodation with outdoor space to relax, great for a family get together.

Wonderful location and comfortable clean cottage. Shower in downstairs bedroom was unreliable sometimes v hot and sometimes cold. Basin in upstairs smaller room was difficult to use due to shelf also would be better to have a shower in that bathroom rather than half bath and a spray with no shower curtain. No mirrors in bathrooms. Nobs on drawersRead more in smaller king size bedrooms come off so difficult to open them. No oven gloves provided which was a problem and quite dangerous. No logs provided but we requested these and they arrived as it was cold. Clock needed a battery so we bought one. No milk in fridge on arrival so we had to wait for our shopping delivery before having a cuppa. Good welcome pack provided strange no milk. Was good accommodation and comfy beds but v expensive considering the issues we raised above . I am sure they can be rectified easily. Although noticed several people commented in previous reviews about no mirrors in bathrooms and they are still absent. It is priced at luxury level so was surprised things were not as perfect as they could have been. Hide

Beautiful house in the most charming village of Hartington. Lovely bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could think of. Plenty of space for 8 and a great dining area with the wow feature of the double staircase. Lovely lounge with comfy furniture, a huge tv, and a log burner. Only lit the log burner one night aRead mores we were lucky with the weather ( sunny and warm) - and it certainly added to the ambience in the evening. The beds were heavenly - like sleeping in a cloud - all our family said how comfy they were. The only comment to make really is they need mirrors in the bathrooms. Unfortunately, we had no mobile signal in the area, which made communication difficult - but good Wi-Fi in the property. The gardens really lovely too, we had the tables and chairs out on the lawns - and used the games room in the garage too, a lovely location to explore the area - Lots of walks for the energetic and a lovely place to relax for the not so. A must-visit in the village is the Cheese Shop, and we picked up fresh eggs every day just outside the shop - pay in honesty box . We had a lovely holiday with family from near and far. Definitely recommend. Hide

Comfortable and well equipped cottage which was ideal for seven of us and two dogs, although it is a bit of a disadvantage having to keep them on the lead due to the sheep in the adjacent field. This was clearly pointed out in the description of the cottage so no complaints from the humans but the dogs werent too happy!! Hartington is a lovely viRead morellage with lots of walks right on your doorstep and a few shops which stock the basics. The Fish and Chips van visits on a Friday evening and was a real treat. Enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend. Hide
