A beautiful country pile boasting a wealth of original features situated at the head of the Glen Lough Valley. The area is home to stunning scenery and plenty of activities suitable for all ages, making it the perfect base for a relaxing family holiday in the Irish countryside. The farmhouse is ringed by the Caha Mountains, tarns and waterfalls, making it a haven for walkers and ardent hill climbers. There are plenty of water sports on offer at Adrigole Harbour (3.5 miles) while golfers should head to Castletownbere and Glengarriff (both within 14 miles).

The cottage stands at the end of a narrow, winding lane surrounded by pretty evergreens. On arrival, you’ll love the scenery of tall mountain slopes rich in greenery where this delightful property hides. The interior is welcoming and rustic, boasting a blend of original features and colourful soft furnishings with bags of character. With exposed roof beams, a wood burner and assortment of comfortable furniture, the lounge is a perfect place to cosy up after a day in the elements. When stomachs start to rumble, walk through to the delightful and vibrant kitchen/diner which has high ceilings and a quaint window seat with scenic country views. You’ll find all you need in here to whip up delicious Irish feasts for the group, who can gather at the wooden table to enjoy the chef’s work and plan the next day’s adventure. When day turns to night, find three of the four bedrooms upstairs on the first floor. Served by a well-appointed family bathroom, these bedrooms include a double, a twin and a cosy single. Set in a separate annex, the fourth bedroom offers space and privacy that a group of little ones will love – this room offers a bunkbed as well as a separate trundle bed, served by a shower room.

Outside, a delightfully peaceful and verdant garden space awaits, offering the best spot to quietly enjoy your dramatic surroundings. Furnished with a table and chairs, this is perfect for starting the day with a scenic brew or ending it with an al fresco evening meal together.

Very well equipped and located cottage. Great setting. One of the best cottages we have tried so far. The landscape near the cottage is aboslutely beautiful. Can only recommend for lovers of Kerry / West Cork, of traditional Irish cottages and of nature...
