Set within the Golden Vale, famous for its rich pasturelands and beautiful scenery, this traditional stone cottage is an ideal base for exploring Limerick and the South West of Ireland. Flexible bedroom accommodation makes it equally perfect for a romantic retreat as for two friends or relatives holidaying together. With fishing available on the River Maigue and Lough Gur, golf at Charleville, 5 miles, and plenty of waymarked trails looping through this mythical landscape, you can spend all day, every day in the fresh air. In the historic village of Bruree, 3 miles, there’s a local shop and pub, while the bustling market town of Charleville offers a variety of independent shops and places to eat and drink. For something a little different, Doneraile Court is the centrepiece of one of Ireland’s most beautiful estates, and has beautiful gardens and 400 acres of parkland to roam, just 20 miles away.
This atmospheric cottage forms part of a large courtyard adjacent to a Georgian country house. Step through the entrance hall and into a cosy lounge, where comfortable seating surrounds a fireplace with a solid-fuel stove. Windows overlook the courtyard and there’s a satellite TV and a DVD player in here as well as a dining table for two. Leading off the lounge, the kitchen boasts a larger, farmhouse-style table plus all the appliances you’ll need to create hearty holiday meals, including a microwave and a dishwasher. The shower room is downstairs, and upstairs you’ll find three bedrooms, a double and two twins, plus a family bathroom. All these inviting rooms are tucked under sloping, timber-clad ceilings.
When you feel like some fresh Irish air, you’ll find a courtyard just outside your front door. Equipped with a BBQ and table and chairs, this is the ideal spot in which to enjoy some sunshine with a drink or a delicious grilled treat. There is ample private parking at this lovely holiday destination.
