This charming cottage set on 5 acres of private land that runs down to the nearby lake sleeps four guests across two twin rooms, making it the ideal base for couples or groups of friends with up to three dogs in tow. This quiet, peaceful location offers stunning views of the Roundstone Bog, nearby lakes, and the Twelve Bens mountain range. The property is just 3 miles from Ballyconneely, for shops and a restaurant, and is the ideal location to explore the Wild Atlantic Way, as the cul-de-sac is off the main Roundstone to Clifden road. The beautiful and secluded, sandy stretches of Dog’s Bay and Gurteen Beach are less than 5 miles away, where you can try your hand at snorkelling, kayaking, paddleboarding or windsurfing. The safe and sandy beaches along the rugged Connemara coastline are perfect for walks or relaxing days building sandcastles and enjoying a picnic. Discover the local area and explore Connemara National Park (20 miles) for hiking, walking and poetry trails, historic Kylemore Abbey & Gardens (20 miles), or take a boat trip to the Aran Islands. The drive to the picturesque port of Roundstone (6 miles) passes lakes and rivers. On arrival, explore the culture and arts associated with this old, traditional fishing village.

This homely cottage, all on the ground level, has a welcoming feel and is equipped with all the contemporary comforts you know and love. The furnishings have calming tones, while the decor reflects the beautiful surrounding landscapes. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner area has plenty of natural light pouring in through the patio doors. Relax together on the comfortable seating and plan the next day’s activities, or enjoy watching a movie together on the TV. The heart of the room is the wood burner, making this an attractive year-round choice. The kitchen has all you need to cook up a storm for the group, who can gather at the nearby dining table to enjoy the chef’s hard work. Retire to one of two pretty bedrooms, one with two single beds and the other with two bunks, each with plenty of storage space. Serving the bedrooms and completing the cottage’s interior is a contemporary bathroom with a bath, hand-held shower, and WC.

Outside is a large garden, partially enclosed by bushes, and boasting magnificent views of the nearby lakes and mountains. A patio area with a picnic bench makes for an ideal spot to enjoy a morning brew or an al fresco dinner on fine days.

Very AUTHENTIC cottage with old charm and grandma type cosyness, very well located between the beautiful Dog's Bay of Roundstone and the pleasant little village of Ballyconeely (the smokehouse is a must go for its salmon). Also typical rural Connemara surroundings with sheeps and Connemara ponies to entertain you if you are animal lovers (if so, doRead moren't miss the auctions at the Connemara poney sales in Clifden several times a year)...BUT please be aware that for autumn and winter holidays, the house is hardly isolated and the heating is outdated, even with the stove. We had a wonderful holiday with our 2 dogs. Plenty of walks on the bog. Cottage lovely. Janet and Nick were so nice and helpful. We were sorry we could not have the cottage at Dolan as we have been there for a few years, but we were really happy with the new location. Only complaint was the midges being by the loch!!!???? The weather was gloriousRead more. Just chilled and visited our favorite places. Thank you.xx Hide
