You’ll be in your partner or best friend’s good books for life after a getaway at this detached cottage, which is set in rolling countryside, just 200 metres from the centre of Caherdaniel and 1 mile from Derrynane National Park. The area is known for the pretty villages and rugged shorelines that surround Derrynane Bay and visitors can look forward to a warm introduction to authentic Irish culture throughout their stay. With an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner and shared garden to return to after an eventful day, do you need anything more?

The cottage enjoys an enviable location between fine sandy beaches overlooked by towering mountains farther inland. The interior is deceptively spacious, with light pouring in from multiple angles and more than enough space for travellers who refuse to travel light on active holidays. The amenities within the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner are all within a short distance of each other, with comfortable sofas by the TV in one corner and a long work surface for food preparation on the other. The small shower room is more than capable of recharging weary limbs after an active day’s exploring, with the comfort of a double bedroom with plenty of storage space to retire to at the day’s end. There is a small table and chairs to chill out on at the side of the cottage, a great place to plan the day and raise a glass to celebrate missions accomplished when you’re back at base camp.

County Kerry is blessed with a diverse landscape that’s waiting to be discovered. A pub and restaurant lies within 50 metres of the cottage, and it is less than 0.5 miles to the Kerry Way, a popular haunt of walkers of all abilities. Derrynane National Park deserves at least a day of your break to itself, while water sports are abundant in Derrynane Bay (both within 1 mile).

As it was early season it could have done with having a bigger heater in the living room.

On your website images of the property the bedroom had two beds but when we got there discovered only one bed! This was a shock! I am 71 with arthritis and would have really struggled to share a bed for the week with my brother who is 70! Lucky for us, he had a camp bed in the car so could sleep on that, but far from ideal.

Its a nice cottage between two section of the Kerry-Way. Well, situated for hiking.. nearby the cottage you will find the pub the blind piper with the variation of tasteful meals. I cottage is a little, standalone house. Best view of a wonderful landscape. You will find peace and silence,
