This stylish holiday home is set in an elevated position, on the edge of the historic village of Castletownshend in County Cork. The spacious property sleeps six guests and is perfect for large families and groups of friends. Castletownshend (0.5 miles) is an unspoilt village set on a steep hill, with a restaurant and bar. You’ll also be just 5 miles from the colourful market town of Skibbereen, known for its fine array of Irish pubs, live music, and quirky shops. There are some beautiful, family-friendly beaches within easy reach of the property, including Sandycove (2.5 miles) and Tragumna (6 miles). The marine nature reserve of Lough Hyne is 7 miles away - a popular spot for walkers and water sports enthusiasts. Take an exhilarating climb to the summit of Knockoumah Hill, overlooking the lake, or join one of the enchanting night kayaking tours to admire the breathtaking scenery by moonlight.

The detached, rural retreat has a reverse-level layout, with an airy, upstairs living space that boasts far-reaching views of the glorious surroundings. Inside, it offers a quirky sense of style, with vibrant paintwork, statement furniture, and unique design features, such as round windows and colourful exposed beams. Starting upstairs in the first floor’s airy, open-plan living space that combines the lounge, diner and kitchen, a sociable space awaits. Flooded with natural light and adorned with blue wooden beams, guests can unwind in the comfortable chairs that surround the TV/DVD, and offer delightful views through the large window nearby. The wooden dining table offers all the space needed to enjoy group meals, which are cooked up in the well-equipped and colourful kitchen at the end of the room. Also on this floor, is a quiet corner with a desk, ideal for escaping to answer some mid-holiday emails. Completing the first floor is a well-appointed family bathroom, and the first bedroom, an elegant king-size room. Downstairs, find the two remaining bedrooms, both tastefully decorated; a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, and a cosy twin. Completing the house and ensuring convenience is a stylish shower room and a separate utility room.

Accessed from the first floor’s living space, a magnificent balcony awaits with its panoramic views and outside table and chairs, the perfect spot for a morning coffee in the sun, or an al fresco evening meal. At ground level, a large, lawned garden makes the perfect spot for a gentle stroll after dinner.

We had a great time in the Boathouse -the location is even nicer than shown in the fotos. A great view from the balcony over the countryside - in the far distance the Atlantic. The house ist very well equipped and cooking no problem! The bathrooms are very new and clean. The sleeping rooms are cosy! We all felt really comfortable and would come bacRead morek anytime! Hide
