This spacious holiday home boasts a peaceful location on the Mizen Head Peninsula, with gorgeous views across Dunmanus Bay. The coastal bolthole sleeps up the 16 guests, with a variety of sleeping arrangements, and is the perfect base for large family get-togethers and holidays with friends. The pretty village of Goleen is 3 miles away, and has two cosy pubs and a handful of local shops. Further afield, you’ll find the harbourside village of Schull (10 miles), which has a great range of places to eat and drink. The village is synonymous with sailing, and hosts a popular regatta every summer. As you’d expect, the walking and wildlife watching opportunities in the area are endless. For a truly breathtaking walk, encompassing a dramatic footbridge and Ireland’s most southerly point, head to the Mizen Head visitor centre (7 miles away).

The detached property is set at the end of a remote, coastal road. Inside, the elegant holiday home boasts grand furniture, high ceilings, vast social spaces, and large windows framing magnificent coastal vistas. The large lounge, with a double-height ceiling, is a lovely place to gather at the end of a busy day, warming your toes by the open fire and watching the TV/DVD. Alternatively, retire to the conservatory to read a book and admire the far-reaching views. French doors open from both rooms to the garden. The traditional kitchen has all the equipment and worktop space needed to cater for a large group, as well as a small breakfast table for perching at with a morning coffee. The separate dining room provides the perfect spot for hosting dinner parties and special occasions, with a large, farmhouse-style table to seat everyone. The property has two bathrooms on this floor, as well as a separate WC and a utility room. Completing the ground floor are three charming bedrooms; a family room with a double and single bed, and an en-suite shower room, a cosy double room, and a welcoming twin which is perfect for little ones. Upstairs await the final three bedrooms; a double room with a pull-down bed, another double bedroom but with an en-suite shower room, and a large dormitory-style bedroom with six single beds. The dormitory room also doubles up as a games room, the perfect space for a competitive group evening. For more games, find the grand snooker table on the mezzanine level that overlooks the lounge and completes the home’s impressive interior.

Outside, soak up the sunshine on the decked terrace, sipping a sundowner or tucking into a delicious BBQ. Beyond the terrace is a large, grassed area that’s ideal for playing outdoor games. The 15-acre grounds surrounding the property extend to a rocky, unfenced shoreline. And for ultimate relaxation, take a quiet moment in the sauna that awaits, the perfect way to unwind.

Wonderful, peaceful location for a quiet interlude. Probably the most impressive library of any vacation rental we have seen. The book on the history of the north Mizen area was particularly interesting. The caretaker, was terrific.
