Comfortably sleeping a family of four, this two-bedroom bolthole is only 2 miles from the beach, where you can paddle, build sandcastles with the kids or potter along the sand for a morning stroll. Visit the Staigue Fort (0.5 miles), believed to be a 2,500-year-old settlement with a fascinating history which is perched within a meadow of wildflowers and colourful native birds. Dine out at the restaurants and pubs at Caherdaniel or Derrynane (5 miles), or try to score under 100 at the 18-hole golf course at Waterville (12 miles). There are three lovely sandy beaches in the area, Whitestrand Beach 2.5miles, Castlecove Beach 2.1miles and Derrynane Beach 7.5 miles.

Venture up to this commanding property and enter inside, where you will be met with a rustic lounge/kitchen/diner, complete with a wood burner and deep, cosy furniture. The whole family will easily settle in here while the head chef of the group unpacks the locally bought ingredients. A very comfortable cottage, though a bit more remote than expected. Very clean, well maintained. Lovely views in good weather! Could have done with better directions to the property and operational instructions.
