Comfortably sleeping a family of four, this two-bedroom bolthole is only 2 miles from the beach, where you can paddle, build sandcastles with the kids or potter along the sand for a morning stroll. Visit the Staigue Fort (0.5 miles), believed to be a 2,500-year-old settlement with a fascinating history which is perched within a meadow of wildflowers and colourful native birds. Dine out at the restaurants and pubs at Caherdaniel or Derrynane (5 miles), or try to score under 100 at the 18-hole golf course at Waterville (12 miles).

Venture up to this commanding property and enter inside, where you will be met with a rustic lounge/kitchen/diner, complete with a wood burner and deep, cosy furniture. The whole family will easily settle in here while the head chef of the group unpacks the locally bought ingredients. A lovely, well kept cottage in a stunning location. A couple of points though.... it would be helpful to mention in the description that there is very limited/intermittent internet connectivity at the property. More importantly, having booked it would have been better to have been provided with the full name/address of the cottage, rather than jusRead moret the district 'Staigue.' The directions got us there, but we drove backwards and forwards past it a couple of times on arrival as we didn't have the name of the cottage that is displayed at the gate. Eventually, we drove up the drive as it looked like the right one, and it was, but having the name of the cottage would have made things easier. Hide
