1 Redsteads is a newly refurbished family friendly holiday cottage, located on a working farm that sits within the estate of Howick Hall. This spacious semi detached cottage offers a splendid rural holiday experience, set deep into the countryside with rolling country and farmyard views from all aspects of the interior but also within close reach of the stunning coastline and beaches.

The finish and decor of the cottage is of a high standard throughout, with the property sleeping 4 in 2 separate bedrooms. The facilities include a large spacious kitchen to enjoy a family evening meal, a cosy living space which leads to a sunroom and large garden space with outdoor seating. There is a ground floor walk-in shower room, 1st floor modern bathroom with bath and shower provided, a spacious landing, with two beautifully presented bedrooms.

1 Redsteads welcomes up to 2 well behaved small-medium sized dogs.

1 Redsteads guests are welcome to use a private key giving access to Howick Hall Arboretum to walk dogs before 10.30am or after 6pm. However, access to the arboretum has to be via the main entrance due to storm damage – so no separate access from the property at present. Please check the website www.howickhallgardens.com for full details of opening dates and times.

Accommodation: a two-bedroom semi detached cottage, sleeping up to 4.

Ground Floor

External utility room: An external utility room is accessed from the side of the property near the side entrance; housing the washing machine, tumble dryer and boiler.

Entrance: The side entrance brings you into the hallway leading to the downstairs bathroom, and kitchen. There is also a good sized cloakroom provided for coats, shoes and household items to be stored away.

Ground floor bathroom: A ground floor bathroom provides a stunning modern walk-in tiled shower space along with WC and wash hand basin. The bathroom also benefits from underfloor heating.   

Kitchen and dining area: A spacious and inviting country kitchen houses an electric oven, induction hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer. The wooden dining table also offers guests the ability to enjoy a relaxed glass of wine and an evening meal after a busy day sightseeing. Views from the kitchen lead into the large, enclosed garden.

Living Room/sunroom: A cosy living space is provided for the family to enjoy and interact. The lounge area has a Smart TV, side tables and comfy sofa seating for all guests. The living space looks onto the rear garden via an attached sunroom, which allows guests to sit closer to the rear garden and enjoy a Summer evening in beautiful rural surroundings.

1st Floor

Bathroom: The family bathroom provides a bath with electric shower over, along with WC and wash hand basin.  

Bedroom 1: This room is a bright and airy room with stunning views of the country, garden and open fields. This bedroom has a king size bed, comfy side chair, drawers, bedside units and a hanging rail for clothing items.

Bedroom 2: The second bedroom offers 2 twin beds, with storage drawers and a hanging rail for clothing items, along with bedside units and a comfy side chair. The bedroom also has stunning views of the garden and open country fields. Please note that this room by request can switch from 2 twin beds to 1 super king bed, if guests prefer. This needs to be stated on the booking.  

Outside space: Large rear garden with outdoor furniture provided to enjoy those warm summer nights.

Heating: Oil central heating.

Parking: 2 spaces provided at property on gravelled parking area.

Pets: Up to 2 small-medium sized dogs permitted.  

General: Bed linen and towels providedFree unlimited Wi-Fi. Mobile phone signal is sometimes limited given rural setting however Wi-fi calling is available. No smoking at property.

Note: Children should not be unsupervised by the nearby farm pond and be aware the cottage is on a working farm.

In a good location - not far from the coast, yet on a working farm. Very well equipped and comfortable. Lovely view from bedroom window. Any problems we had were dealt with very quickly. Anna, the housekeeper welcomed us as we arrived. Thank you.

Attractive cottage, very well equipped and furnished and very central for visiting places of interest, either by car or on foot. Would be lovely in spring to visit Arboretums azaleas and rhododendrons and gardens. Housekeeper (Anna) called on us and was very welcoming and helpful.

The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped, clean and well maintained. The situation is good for visiting the beautiful coast and wonderful beaches. It was good that we had passes to visit the gardens at Howick Hall and the cafe served very fresh sandwiches!

An absolute gem of a property. Extremely comfortable with a lovely, safe garden.Our second visit and the standard remains impeccable. A most peaceful rural location with excellent walks through the estate arboretum. Lots to visit and not travel too far and great places to eat.

A lovely cottage, wonderfully situated for peace and quiet with walking access to the sea for bathing. A perfect base for access to a wonderful area and the many walks and wonderful towns in the North East including Edinburgh and the Borders.

This is a fabulous cottage situated in an ideal location for exploring Northumberland. It was clean and comfortable and provided 2 couples loads of space for our week's stay. Everything about this place is quality from the crockery, cutlery, soft furnishings and fabulous king sized bath sheets to name but a few. The cottage is within easy access toRead more Craster, Alnwick, Alnmouth, Seahouses and Bamburgh and Lindisfarne and many more places.. The property is set in a beautiful location close to the coast and surrounding countryside. It is well equipped, clean and comfortable and we were made very welcome. Little extra touches such as dog treats and a towel were really useful. We had a fantastic holiday and cant wait to come back.

Redsteads was a lovely place to stay, garden for the dogs and access to the Arboretum before 10.30 We did have problems with heating and hot water but Graham came straight away with electric heaters to help

lovely property in a peaceful rural location. Large garden for dogs and able to walk in the arboretum nearby. The beaches in this area are unspoilt and dog friendly. Plenty of places to visit and able to sample some lovely seafood in dog friendly pubs/cafes.

This is our second visit to this cottage which is just right for us in the right location. Anna the housekeeper prepares the property superbly and makes sure we are made welcome and leaves us feeling assured should we have any problem. That is why we are returning again in September.
