Rollesby is a small village at the southern end of The Broads. Rollesby Broad is one of the Trinity Broads, the other two being Ormsby and Filby, all are worth a visit. They make up part of the Norfolk Broads National Park, which has over 125 miles of waterways and nature trails to discover, it should not be missed. Hire a boat, canoe or kayak, take a picnic and leave the rest of the world behind. The east coast beaches are long stretches of sandy beach that are often not over-populated, even in the summer. Favourites to visit are Winterton-on-Sea, Horsey Gap, where you can see the local seal colony and a little further up the coast visit the village of Happisburgh, with its striking red and white lighthouse. This part of the county is flat and perfect for walking, birdwatching and cycling; the North Norfolk Cycle Route 8 runs from Great Yarmouth to Cromer and there is much to explore in between. Thrigby Hall Wildlife Garden and Caister Castle Car Collection also make a lovely day out. There is much to do in this lesser-known part of Norfolk, you will probably be back but don’t tell everyone, we would like to keep this a secret just between ourselves!
