This 300-year-old fisherman’s retreat is situated in a small yard at the entrance of the cobbled part of Church Street, right in the heart of Whitby. Full of character, steeped in history and original features, this is a wonderful cosy cottage with the modern convenience of a contemporary bathroom and well-equipped kitchen. The south facing outside seating area is a fantastic bonus and offers a peaceful haven away from the hustle and bustle.

The accommodation is on three levels with characteristic steep stairs.

GROUND FLOOR:
Lounge/Kitchen/Diner:
This is a beautiful room full of character, great for relaxing and watching the Smart TV at the end of the day. Here you will find a two seater sofa, two armchairs and a coffee table arranged around the Georgian Adam fire grate built into the ornamental brick chimney. Above this is a portrait of Henry Freeman, the famous Whitby Lifeboat Coxswain, who lived in Clarks Yard. There is a breakfast bar and two stools, great for enjoying a meal after a day by the sea. The kitchen has an electric oven with gas hob and hood over, dishwasher, fridge with icebox and microwave. A set of steep winder stairs, with rope handrails, take you to the first floor.

FIRST FLOOR:
Bedroom 1:
A lovely, bright and airy room, with wood panelled walls, beamed ceiling and a cast iron fireplace, is the perfect place to end a day of sightseeing. With a double bed, bedside cabinets and lamps, two built in cupboards with hanging space, a pine chest and dressing table.
Bathroom: This modern bathroom with unique original touches has a double walk-in shower, WC and wash basin with mirror over. Plenty of storage in the unusual curved wooden cupboards.

A further winder staircase with vertical rope handrails take you to the second bedroom (please note there is no upper door to this room; therefore, it is not suitable for young children).

SECOND FLOOR:
Bedroom 2:
A dormer bedroom with beamed ceiling, (watch your head on those beams). Twin beds with bedside cabinet and lamp between, chest of drawers and dressing table.
