"The Old Bakery is a lovely, well-equipped cottage with everything you would need or expect. It is spotlessly clean but what makes it extra special is the warm welcome we received from the owners. They couldn't have been more helpful and had thought of everything - there was even a cake waiting for us! We would recommend to anyone who is looking for a quiet, relaxing break within easy reach of both the North Norfolk coast and the Broads to book this cottage straightaway!" - Elen Oakenfull

On the southern edge of The Broads National Park, find this perfect romantic hideaway just for two.  Within half a mile of a good pub and in a glorious rural landscape, with Norfolk’s huge skies overhead, The Old Bakery will cosset and comfort you during your stay here. The interior is light filled and everything has been thought about to ensure you have a lovely holiday.   There is plenty of space to relax in the living room, which has a beautiful view across the fields to the church beyond.  The king size bed has a bespoke wool-filled duvet and pillows that might just give you the best nights’ sleep you have ever had; flop into bed for sweet dreams and wake up listening to the bird song, and the en-suite shower room has a robe for each of you.  On warmer days, laze in the sunny courtyard space with its own barbeque.  This is a part of the world where the Norfolk saying ‘Slow You Down’ is taken as read, and you will easily find yourselves enjoying a slower way of life in this very special corner of Norfolk.   Shops: 1.5 miles/Pub: 0.5 miles

Mautby is a small parish that has the River Bure at its edge to the south and the Norfolk Broads National Park to the north and west.  With over 125 miles of waterways and nature trails to discover, it should not be missed.  Hire a boat, canoe or kayak, take a picnic and leave the rest of the world behind.   The east coast beaches are long stretches of sandy beach that are often not over-populated, even in the summer.  Favourites to visit are Winterton-on-Sea, Horsey Gap, where you can see the local seal colony and a little further up the coast visit the village of Happisburgh, with its striking red and white lighthouse.  This part of the county is flat and perfect for walking, birdwatching and cycling; the North Norfolk Cycle Route 8 runs from Great Yarmouth to Cromer and there is much to explore in between.  Thrigby Hall Wildlife Garden and Caister Castle Car Collection also make a lovely day out.  There is much to do in this lesser-known part of Norfolk, you will probably be back but don’t tell everyone, we would like to keep this a secret just between ourselves!

Fantastic stay at The Old Bakery Highly Recommend We had a wonderful stay at The Old Bakery holiday cottage in Norfolk. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by our excellent hosts Dawn & Peter, and also received a friendly greeting from their dogs, which made us feel right at home. The cottage is beautifully presented, full ofRead more character, immaculately clean, and very comfortable. Its in a great location for exploring the Norfolk Broads and the stunning coastline nearby. We enjoyed watching seals on the beaches, walking along peaceful coastal paths, and hiring a day boat to explore the Broads all within easy reach. Wildlife lovers will be in their element here. We saw geese, deer, hares, pheasants, and partridge in the field just behind the cottage a real treat each morning. And the night skies were absolutely beautiful, with clear views of the stars thanks to the peaceful rural setting. This is a perfect base for enjoying the natural beauty and tranquillity of Norfolk. We couldnt have asked for more and will definitely return. Hide

An ideal property for 2 on one level with all the home comforts. The property is situated in a small hamlet but in easy reach of the tourist spots of Norfolk. The bed was super comfy and make you feel very welcome.
