"The Old Bakery is a lovely, well-equipped cottage with everything you would need or expect. It is spotlessly clean but what makes it extra special is the warm welcome we received from the owners. They couldn't have been more helpful and had thought of everything - there was even a cake waiting for us! We would recommend to anyone who is looking for a quiet, relaxing break within easy reach of both the North Norfolk coast and the Broads to book this cottage straightaway!" - Elen Oakenfull

Mautby is a small parish that has the River Bure at its edge to the south and the Norfolk Broads National Park to the north and west. With over 125 miles of waterways and nature trails to discover, it should not be missed. Hire a boat, canoe or kayak, take a picnic and leave the rest of the world behind. The east coast beaches are long stretches of sandy beach that are often not over-populated, even in the summer. Favourites to visit are Winterton-on-Sea, Horsey Gap, where you can see the local seal colony and a little further up the coast visit the village of Happisburgh, with its striking red and white lighthouse. This part of the county is flat and perfect for walking, birdwatching and cycling; the North Norfolk Cycle Route 8 runs from Great Yarmouth to Cromer and there is much to explore in between. Thrigby Hall Wildlife Garden and Caister Castle Car Collection also make a lovely day out. There is much to do in this lesser-known part of Norfolk, you will probably be back but don’t tell everyone, we would like to keep this a secret just between ourselves!
