Temperance Cottage was a lovely place to stay, and is very centrally located in Braunton. It is warm and cosy, but with pleanty of room and bedrooms, and the bathroom provision is good. It has a friendly atmosphere and it was easy to produce supper in the family kitchen which everyone enjoyed. Its not luxurious but it is clean and pleasant and a haRead moreppy place to stay. Braunton itself is nothing special but access to great beaches and lovely walks is quick and easy. Hide

We were a party of 6 adults, one small child and two tiny dogs. We all really enjoyed our stay in the cottage. It was characterful and so typical of Braunton. The centre of the village is less than a 10 min walk away so it was in a great location. It was extremely well equipped - there was everything you need for your stay and was in fact one of tRead morehe best equipped cottages wed stayed in. The owners had thought of almost everythingeven for the canine guests! Good recycling facilities. Bedrooms were spacious and very comfortable, particularly the beds - everyone slept well. The steep staircases may not suit everyone! The lounge is quite small and couldnt comfortably accommodate all 7 of us at once, however, the kitchen has a large table which provides an additional sociable area. There is also a nice decked area outside which we didnt use because the weather wasnt quite warm enough. The lack of parking was made clear to us at booking and we knew the location of the cottage very well so understood its challenges. It was a bit tricky loading and unloading because the road is narrow and fairly busy so guests will need to be prepared for this. The owner was very responsive when the boiler developed a fault and it was repaired the next day. Hide

Lovely and comfortable cottage. Everything we needed in the kitchen plus full fridge and separate freezer a bonus for a large group. Location is excellent for shops and cafes in braunton, also few mins drive to saunton sands. Very good value for money, would definitely stay again.

Waste and recycling days are early in the week and this is stored close to the back of the house due to the house design. This means waste from previous tenants could be still at the property when you arrive.

Very pleased with the accommodation. Six adults and two dogs , it had everything we needed. Washing Machine and Drier were very welcome (due to the heavy rain). Highly recommended and would definitely stay here again.

DO NOT RENT THIS PROPERTY!! On arrival, as we entered the cottage the lounge and kitchen area there was an overwhelming smell of dog. Although the property had a pet policy, we did not expect it to smell as bad. Within 10 minutes of arriving at the property, we had to leave the property to get away from the smell. Whilst the caretaker came roundRead more with plug ins and Febreze air freshener this did mask the smell slightly, the smell was engrained in the carpets and sofas so the smell returned within 24 hours. The caretaker came round in the morning with Vanish carpet spray and a bottle of bleach. My wife used the bleach to clean all floors with a mop and wipe down all the kitchen surfaces. The mop bucket water was black, despite the fact, we only arrived 12 hours prior. The soles of our feet were black just walking around the property. Later that day the owner also bought two throws to put on the sofas. The smell was so bad we couldnt use the lounge! We can only assume, wet dogs have slept in the lounge. Worst thing of all, we were horrified to see a massive stain on the single duvet in the twin room which my daughters friend had slept in. This is totally unacceptable and a health hazard, it would appear to be some kind of bodily fluid. As a result, the girls left early and could not stay in the property any longer. The small window in the twin room was also broken. The kitchen could do with a refit inside, the cupboards stink and are really unpleasant inside . We had to wash everything we used because of it. Apart from cereal and toast in the morning, we did not use the kitchen facilities and had to eat out every night! The windows upstairs are all filthy outside and the stairway carpet and handrails are disgusting to touch. The cupboards were full of clutter. The guest book on the kitchen table only has a few pages left in it where pages have been ripped out for what we can only think is for bad reviews. Parking is an absolute nightmare too. We parked a 1/4 mile away which was quite challenging with check in and check out!! The property is in need of a seriously good deep clean, and should not be rented out until its done. The owners do not admit fault although they have claimed to rectify the issues raised. We booked this cottage because the reviews were "Exceptional", in our opinion this was extremely misleading. Response from Holiday Cottages.co.uk - Thank you for your review. We have spoken to the Home Owner and he has confirmed that the issues have now been resolved. Hide

Great cottage & great location. 3 bathrooms which is needed for 8 people. Ideal for exploring North Devon. Only downside is that there isnt really any parking nearby, though it is only a 10 min walk to the public car parks where its 6 per day to park.

Whilst the Cottage is in a very good location being walking distance to all that Braunton has to offer, and a good size, the parking situation really does need to be made clear. You cannot pull up outside to do a quick luggage drop, parking is a lottery and in the summer I feel would be a real challenge ( we stayed end of Jan and could generally paRead morerk a few mins walk away). The decor and fixtures are a little tired / and could do with a refresh, however the facilities were good. The 2nd set-up of stairs to the en-suite are not for the faint hearted!!! Hide
